“She sang before she spoke†– Debbie Iscoe, Mother
Coming from a very musical family, Emily was enrolled in piano lessons when she was 9 years old. Wanting to try everything, the piano lessons soon became secondary to other extra-curricular activities and it wasn’t long before they stopped altogether. Emily returned to her music studies in grade 6 where she took up the clarinet and alto saxophone. Soon after arriving at High School, Emily began tinkering away at the piano again, making up melodies and eventually lyrics to accompany them. Growing out of her keyboard, her parents bought her a full piano so she could explore her talent. Building on her previous knowledge of the piano, Emily progressed solely by ear, using her creativity, and quickly began to compose original songs.
Emily spent 5 years studying voice and composition at Merriam School of Music in Oakville, near her home in Mississauga. She is currently enrolled in the Vocal Jazz Performance program at Humber College, in Etobicoke. Throughout her studies, Emily has obtained valuable knowledge that has helped in building a foundation for her career in music.
