Influences: Starting from the top..First favorite song in life was..."Dancing Machine" by the Jackson 5. Then, "Boogie Shoes" was given to me by my kindergarden teacher cause I wouldn't stop singin' it in class. I still have it signed. So K.C. and the Sunshine Band, and them BeeGee's are definately an influence. Mr. Gore my music teacher from elementary school had me fiendin' to learn piano.. DJ Stimey, and DJ Pookie from Carver Projects were the first DJ's I ever saw cut a record.. They were like God's to me. I was 8, and I've never strayed from this hiphop thing. Jazzy Ray, and Poodle (RIP) were the first I ever saw get on with the DJs and rock the mic.. That's when it was just..."Yes, yes, ya'll.. to the beat ya'll." That's when I made Peter Wilson the DJ so I could rhyme.. The first time I ever got so stimulated by another MC that I had to write out his lyrics was Rakim, for "My Melody" and then "Eric B. Is President".. KRS One to me is the greatest rapper of all time..But I always related to Big Daddy Kane. Slick Rick is the person who got me spittin' about girls most of the time, cause when I did that, even when I'd diss them on the pause button mix tapes.. They'd adore me for it.. Doug E. Fresh taught my cousin Richie Rich Thurman how to beatbox, Richie Rich taught me. They attended Park East High together. So you can say I'm third generation Doug E. Fresh.. That's Harlem! K7 took me under the wing, showed me the business first, put me in a situation to be a boss behind the scene's. Showed me how to incorporate melodies into my songwriting, had me mentored by the absolute best, Tommy Uzzo, Mike Lorrello, Troy Hightower, and I hate you for being the catalyst to make Tommy Boy drop Hooky Party, among many other bitch ass things, but your work speaks for itself, Joey Gardener.
DJ Marley Marl is the only celebrity that ever had me in awe. Do you realize that he's the first to sample and loop a James Brown cut, or any cut in this genre? DJ Icue, Digital Konfusion, Ingenious Music, The Mercenary'z is my true production mentor, he was even nice on a Casio SK-1. Teddy Riley, and mostly anything he did was great to me. Guy, BlackStreet. Not to mention all he did for hiphop. Producing Doug E.'s "The Show"..Heavy D, we can go on for days..
But the Producer I strive to be most like is Dr. Dre. There's no better sound in music to me. R.Kelly, sex offender or not, I'm not the judge is the best R and B artist EVER. Period. Mary J. Blige will always get my money. A Tribe Called Quest is the best group EVER. Period. You know Q-Tip won't add me? Still mad about Rosie Perez? Come on that was years ago..
Lol. It's aiight cause Phife was the dark skinned bro like me, who loved sports.. He my friend..On here..at least..lol. Redman's the best when is comes to concept album's along with De La Soul. But after is all is said and done.. I'm so original. I rap in so many styles. So let's say I'm influenced by the times, the vibes, and events of my life. Those things will always reflect in my music, so really if you still reading this, I'm influenced by you too. Thank you.
Sounds Like: That good shit is back... You know.. Music that makes you feel good, wanna be here, and look forward to many more tomorrow's...
That Ghetto Rent Party Uptempo, make you wanna shake dat ass hiphop!!
