About Me

Who wants to know?

My Interests

People, places, things, abstract concepts, you know, interesting stuff.

I'd like to meet:

Shelter from the corn.

Music:

bob dylan, television hill, p.j. harvey, nick cave and the bad seeds (birthday party too), wolfgang amadeus mozart, ludwig van beethoven, dmitri shastakovich, bettie serveert, bob dylan, the walker and jay show, arbouretum, hank williams (the real hank williams), Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill's three penny opera, the will oldham, thelonious monk, bob dylan, company, creech holler, nirvana, traditional music, especially american and eastern european. i suppose i have a certain fondness for some other folks. indeed, i once liked a great deal more. still, this list will do, though it's sadly short. i wish there was more.

Movies:

the butterfly effect, le grande illusion, dr. strangelove (or how i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb), lawrence of arabia, big lewbowski, the rest of the coen brothers (exept ladykillers. god that sucked.), that obscure object of desire, bunuel, truffaut, especially the antoine doinel story, in the mood for love, don't look back, seven samurai, samurai seven, institute benjamenta, the kingdom, cowboy beebop, twin peaks, tom waits' big time, hero, shoot the piano player... uuh... David attenborough

Television:

i can think of no worse torture than having to watch television, unless perhaps having to hear someone describe watching television. i shudder.

Books:

Ainsley Ekhram, flannery o'connor, dubliers, eugenia ginsberg, the man without qualities, young torless, 100 years of solitude, love in the time of cholera, strange pilgrims, heart of a dog, the master and margerita, the brother's karamazov, the idiot, pessoa, the book of disquiet, a happy death, escoffier, the bible (it's a good book, ya know?), moscow to the end of the line, richard olney, de groot, a hero of our time, chekhov, kharms, blake, borstal boy by brendan behan (not really, but I do like saying that), edgar allen poe, edgar lee masters' spoonriver anthology, robert walser's jakob von gunten, king lear, hamlet, titus andronicus, any other shakespeare, mark ames (look him up), clowes, calvin and hobbes, through the habitrails, leviathin and cat, hate, the watchmen...i like other books too. i like biographies, especially autobiographies (chaplin, ghandi, genia, beethoven and mozart ( the last two are obviously not autobiographies, though mozart's letters are close.)). been readin' 'bout ancient greece lately, too much, probably. i read a lot of cookbooks. occasionally some other kind of non-fiction slips in. books are good. i like books. at least, if you don't think about the ones that aren't good.

Heroes:

i prefer friends.

tell me what you eat.

you are, almost literally, what you eat. Savarin says "tell me what you eat, and i'll tell you who you are." 'tis true that one can tell a great deal about a person by what, and how, they eat. sure...
