Well, life is like this...
Da Lil Nikwa was born Leniqua Simmons on April 29th, 1987 to her father, Tyrone Simmons, and mother, Voin White in Detroit, Michigan. Mostly raised by her sister, Sharonda Greenlaw, who has always been one of her greatest influences, Da Lil Nikwa developed a real love for music a very young age.
As she grew up, Da Lil Nikwa was constantly at choir practice with her mother; and watching her sister sing and play piano at different functions. Constantly listening to music will and can get the better of a person, but for Da Lil Nikwa, it helped form and shape her future.
Always receiving musical roles in whatever play or church program she would find herself in, Da Lil Nikwa quickly became accustom to stage presence; and began considering herself a natural entertainer.
Around the age of 7, Da Lil Nikwa developed a strong love for drums; however, female drummers were not popular then. So around the age of 9, she was steered in the path of the piano taught by her sister, Sharonda. Unable to quite grasp the concepts of reading music, she gave up practicing and eventually quitting lessons. However, she did not discard her love for music. Instead, two of her now-well known talents begin to surface: Playing by ear and writtings songs.
During the time she spent with her sister whether it was at home making music or at church worship practices, Da Lil Nikwa started learning how musical and vocal arrangements were made and how they were put together. So by the age of 10, Da Lil Nikwa had started musically arranging songs using a 61-key Casio and a tape recorder.
By the age of 13, Da Lil Nikwa had written over 50 songs of which most she recorded with full vocals. After relocating to Scottsdale, Arizona at that age, her music has only excelled and moved forward. Now 20 years old, playing both piano and drums, while teaching herself the bass guitar, Da Lil Nikwa continues to further her musical horizons, Claiming to be.. "Nowhere near trained, but yet somewhat accomplished."

Eh Yo! What It do? It's Da Lil Nikwa ladiez and gentz. I'm indeed a Christian, been one form 9 years. I'm a real down to earth artist..i like to talk about real life issues in the songs i write. You know, stuff you can identify with; but then on the flip, i like to have fun with it just because, you know?
Now, something that constantly gets to me is the fact the a lot of today's music isn't really positive. It's famous for present problems, yet not providin the right atedote for them. And I've been taught, dont bring up a problem unless you're dedicated to the PROPER solution.
So the songs you here on my page, they're just an expression of what today's generation really needs to hear. Its time out for the hype, I say lets deal with issues of the heart you know?
NOW...I never negate or disqualify a person's feelings; however, I know that it doesn't matter how negative the feeling maybe, it doesn't justify or warrant a right for a person to pursue revenge. Be honest, be open, stay real, and stay true...that's not only to others but to yourself as well. And that's what I believe. But I know that none of this can be done apart from the spirit of God. What God am I referring to? The Lord God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. The only ONE, TRUE, God, my saviour, The Lord Jesus Christ.
LOL! yep got a lil excited.. but umm.. yep.. I write and produce my own stuff, but definately looking forward to doing big things real soon. So that's the deal hurr, people... God Bless you all... get at me YA HEARD!
Random "Nikwa Factz"
Keyboards: I've had a total of 4 keyboards (3 Casio and 1 Yamaha) Then there's my baby I play at the church, Korg Triton Extreme Workstation!!!
Drums: I have had 2 Yamaha Drum Machines, Have played some Yamaha's and occassionally jump on the DW's at church
Songs Written in the last two years: between 30and 40 w/ words and only God know how many without lol
Current Hardware and Software: M-Audio Fast Track Pro, FL Studio, and Cakewalk 2004
