There have been so many that just thinking about it sends me into a remix of emotions. I read constantly and usually I have at least three books on the go at any given time. Currently, I am reading Osmi povjernik by Renato Baretic (Croatian); The Other Campaign by Subcomandante Marcos and the Zapatistas; The Evolution of Future Consciousness by Thomas Lombardo; The Last Byzantine Renaissance by Steven Runciman; In China's Shadow by Reed Hundt. I have just finished Rainbow's End by Vernor Vinge; Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins, Djeca Patrasa by Zoran Feric; Ne zaljublaj se u strance (both Croatian), Fateless by Imre Kertesz (excellent Hungarian writer), The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil, Helping Verbs of the Heart by Peter Esterhazy (another Hungarian) and Ghosts which my daughter Tessie gave me for my birthday. The most influential book of last year that I read was Fantastic Voyage by Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman. It really changed my eating regime. Of course, the best book of the year has been Future Frequencies by Derek Woodgate with Wayne Pethrick. It actually made me some money.
I was once asked in an interview, which six people (dead or alive) would I like to sit next to on a plane. Of course, I forgot to mention my partner at the time and took shit for it. So let's try again: My Dad, Tito, Richard Branson, Nick Cave, Umberto Eco, Michaelangelo. It would be extra cool, if Puskas, Mahler, Derrida and Ray Kurzweil were the stewards. Unfortunately, my kids were off traveling somewhere else, so they were not available.
