My Interests

Food (esp. if I don't have to cook it), dancin', reproductive justice, French language and culture, traveling, craft, watching ants eat poison (yay summer in S.CA), genuine people, contemporary art, nature, aquatic turtles, electing someone who won't cause the US to self-destruct.Go to Oberlin College Mail Art Collection to see the most significant contribution I've made in the information studies field thus far (I wrote the bios and constructed the bibliographies as well as the entire image archive - which you may not be able to access unless you're at Oberlin).

Music:

Ani Difranco, Jeff Buckley, Innocence Mission, Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, Counting Crows, Bic Runga, Amos Lee, frente!, Beth Orton, The Flaming Lips, Weezer, love heart wrenching piano and rockin' guitar, it's gotta be raw and passionate though. Just discovered Joni Mitchell (Court and Spark) and I'm amazed.

Movies:

Angels in America!, Amelie, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, The Point, soon to be Dirty Trousers ;-), sooo many others

Television:

I loved Six Feet Under (to the point of addiction), Lost (1st season so much better than the rest), The L Word, Grey's Anatomy, Firefly, Family Guy, American Dad ;-). Loved My So-Called Life and even watched Dawson's Creek when it was actually on (man, high school. . .) Don't really watch much TV now since we only have 5 channels! At least I can watch So You Think You Can Dance (I love dancing!)

Books:

Francesca Lia Block will always be my favorite fiction author. Also like Jody Picoult, Katrina Kittle, Patrick Deville, Camus . . . I mostly just pick up random books from the NEW shelf at the public library. Just read Eve Ensler's Insecure At Last. I haven't read a book that quickly in a long time.

Heroes:

Ani Difranco. Why is it so taboo to talk about politics and what's going on in the world when you're in the mainstream music scene?? The only ones that seem to get away with it are rappers. You would think it'd be the perfect venue for getting your opinions/ideas/criticism out there. They do it in the movies. Why not music too?? And now she's a mother!
