I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I grew up moving around ALOT as a child. The new girl at a different school just about every year in SoCal until my family relocated to a small town in MN (Wassup Rochester!). Music is all I've ever known, all I've ever wanted, sometimes all I had to make it through.I grew up in a strict christian home, only allowed to listen gospel (shout out to the Croach and Hawkins Family listeners out there) and classical music, which was torture at the time, and to this day is the very reason why I am an extreme lover of all things musical, in any form in chooses to show itself.Once I escaped to college (a Christian college, mind you), I was able to explore a world of music that had previously been so elusive, so hidden to me. I "discovered" The Beatles, classic rock, 70's funk, 60's soul, 40's jazz...everything was so amazing to me. When you're denied something for so long, you soak up as much as you can, once you're able to turn the faucet on yourself, though sometimes, it seems I can't seem to soak it up fast enough.I attended Black pentacostal churches and went to predominately white schools. I was in honors choirs, jazz performance groups, and had the opportunity to be a member of the Grammy Award winning group, "SOUNDS OF BLACKNESS". One day I decided to give up being a big fish in a small town, move to lala land and give it shot. It's been delicious/ painful/ exciting/ frustrating/ a struggle/ a breeze/ crazy/ everything and nothing I expected it to be all at the same time.So, here I am. I'm a simple girl, with a big voice, alot of ideas, even more soul and a driving force to fulfill my purpose.I currently sing background for a cat named Philip Lawrence (Holla at yo Kinfolk!) as well as doing demo work all over L.A. I'm developing my own project, assembling some of the most talented musicians around town, and getting something together. I'm also a firm believer in everything happening for a reason. And whoever reads this and something in you responds to it, and you want to know more...follow that instinct, drop me a line. If you're just looking to jam, there's room for that too...I'll bring you over to the other side eventually.
