Besides that, I am of Cuban heritage and admire the way that Cuba has not allowed any other country to conquer them. I grew up in Southside Jamaica Queens, New York and was kicked out at 14. Living in different places – I got to see and experience a lot more than your average 14 year old.
At 18, after building quite a police record for myself - I spoke to a Navy recruiter who said that if I enlisted he would clear my record entirely. I wound up joining as a reservist and yes – getting all my records cleared. 4 months of boot camp was enough for me – so when I got back – I just quit. They were supposedly going to “come get me, “ but with one address in each borough – none of which I was staying at – I was pretty hard to find.
I enrolled in Queensborough community College. After I started making good money on campus with my pharmaceutical job I eventually just dropped out. I got a job selling cars on Hillside ave. Soon, I became the top sales rep and got recruited to run a used car dealership on Northern Blvd. Next, I got recruited to work on Madison Ave in the city selling spy equipment, bullet proof vests, and things of that nature.
No matter where I was working, I would always find a way to make extra cash. I would take the A train to the Q 10 and hit the block with my peoples after work. A few things happened as to where it seemed that I should leave NY for a while.
My friend Trev aka Arson and myself went down to Orlando for a few months- this was around 1998. Florida was much different and we were having a ball! A few weeks after being in Florida – we were at a club and joined an open mic contest. After the contest – we were asked to open for Rakim. After that – I decided that Florida had more opportunity than NY for the music so I wound up moving to Orlando the following year.
I came down with a pretty penny – so the first full year I didn’t work. I copped an Acura Legend and would go clubbing wed- sun. In 2001 my son was born, I put together my first solo album called Alias in which I produced half of it and recorded it all myself. After that, I put out a mix cd called – Got cash? Next, another mixtape called Faces Of Cash. Then, I put out my second album – this time sample free – called Year of The Hustler, which featured Kool G Rap.
I’ve pretty much performed everywhere in Orlando – and whether they are lovers or haters of my music – most people in the urban community have heard of me or been to one of my shows. Pure Cash Entertainment is my company and I also have a magazine – Pure Cash Magazine. I have two artists – Lady Lyric – one of the hottest females in the game – and a down south artist – Durt Po who will be back in 2010.
Right now – I'm pushing “Lick yo Body,†that features Lyric and “I do it.†As the first 2 singles off my new album “Pentoxicated.†You can find my music all over the web on itunes and cdbaby and a ton of other places – just google my name and you’ll see. I’m in the works for making a few more music videos and just began working on a new project with Lady Lyric. I will be dropping my new mixtape – hosted by South Kak’s own DJ B lord soon – its called “The Show.†This mixtape is a compilation of all the releases I have had to date including my new album – Pentoxicated.
When it comes to making music – I am a natural and can make a song aster than most people. When it comes to freestyling – I have been blessed with that talent as well. Never was too much into battling. Recording wise – you can ask any engineer that I have worked with and they will confirm – I make real good use of time and am always very prepared and ready when I hit the booth. I love to perform and have fun with the crowd.
That’s a brief overview “about†me, if you have any specifics that you might want to know about just ask – I might tell you. Until then – signing out it’s the Cuban Cowboy – Fidel Cashflow aka – Mr. GMGP!
The unparalleled attraction to rap music has not withered, when it comes to Fidel Cashflow. Hailing from South Jamaica Queens, New York, Fidel displays an air of charisma, confidence, and clever wordplay that is not common to most. As a young rapper threatening to unseat his competition with his brutal and candid delivery, he joined talents with a few of his peers and formed several groups. But, after a few failed attempts as a group member and operating solely on the underground, he decided to position himself as a solo artist.
Musically inclined from a very early age, Cashflow attributes his perseverance to his friends and fellow artists; Vic “the Dutch†Vondoom (R.I.P.), Snipe the Stereotype, The Dreaded Rasta Arson, Lex Pete and Big Lou. in fact, it was Snipe who gave Fidel Cashflow his stage name. Cash is of Cuban decent, so both he and Snipe agreed that it was a perfect fit. After dropping a handful of mixtapes and independent albums, it was only natural the young firebrand would hit the stage and perform in the presence of major artists like Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, Rakim, Twista, Ja Rule, OGC, DMX, and Master P. Subsequently, he began to headline shows from New York to Florida.
Very comfortable on stage, Fidel Cashflow has mastered “playing to the audienceâ€. He knows how to give them what they want. From throwing money and prizes into the crowd, to having voluptuous and sexy dancers on stage, the audience gets just enough to beg for more. Fidel’s rise from the underground is well documented with numerous mixtape appearances, airplay on internet, college and local radio stations. His FACES OF CASH mixtape hosted by Julia Beverly, along with his current album Year of the Hustler featuring Kool G Rap, attracted the attention of several media outlets. The Queens-bred hardcore rapper has received considerable press coverage in The Orlando Weekly, OZONE Magazine, Orlando Sentinel and impact Press.
In addition to spitting leering raps about the street culture of good living and fine women, Fidel has released several issues of his magazine Pure Cash Magazine. “It’s about independent music, culture and fashion. The first issue dropped in mid-July of 2007,†states the budding entrepreneur.
Cashflow appeals to a wide array of audiences. Fluent in Spanish and English, he transcends various expressions of music: up-north hip-hop, down-south bounce, Latin Reggaeton, and more. He applies his lyrical brushstrokes to a variety of canvases. All his music is self-written. He has compiled an extensive library of songs throughout the years, which cover a wide range of topics. Topics have included club bangers, politics, pranks, skits, family life issues, and even spoofs of popular songs.
Cashflow describes his newest album, “Pentoxicated,†as “his most creative, artistic piece of work yet.†And rightfully so. Mr. Fidel’s lyrical ability elevates the art of rocking the mic as he brings his unique presence to avid listeners. He explains, “My ability to put words together artistically is not only a way of expressing myself, but also a way to speak for others that feel the same way but can’t get it out.â€
Since founding Pure Cash Entertainment in 1999, Fidel has been using the philosophy of successful orientated moguls such as Jay-Z, Russell Simmons and Puffy to promote himself and fellow artists. Using a more proactive approach in his promotional strategy to brand his company is the best approach according to the CEO.
