About Me

by Julie Perine Lifestyles Editor CLARKSBURGMembers of The Davisson Brothers Band refer to their Pittsburgh-based manager Ron Brown as a miracle worker. But according to Brown, the band's recent Nashville record contract can be fully attributed to its unique, untapped talent."In my humble opinion, The Davisson Brothers are the best band I've ever heard," Brown said, "and a lot of people in Nashville feel the same way." Brown, who hooked the group up with CMA award-winning producer Doug Grau, said he suspects the upcoming release under Chartunes/Pyramid/Universal Records will get plenty of attention in a variety of genres. "You take The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead and have them play blues and country and that's what you have," Brown said. "They're a rock and roll roots jam band that's the best way to describe them."The band's Appalachian foot-tappin' style may just be expanding the regional borders in which it has thus far become known, Brown said. "They could actually be taking the West Virginia music they do and make it a national trend," he said. "You'll see some bands copying them."Based in Clarksburg, The Davisson Brothers Band is named for siblings Chris and Donnie Davisson. Their vocal and guitar talents are joined by bass guitarist/vocalist Sammy Davisson and drummer Aaron RegesterSince their official formation 11 years ago, the band has played a variety of venues across the East Coast, averaging 200-plus gigs per year. Performances have included hometown fairs and festivals as well as bigger events during which they shared stages with artists including Charlie Daniels, John Michael Montgomery and The Allman Brothers Band. "These guys have been together so long that when they're on stage, they play as one," Brown said. "If you've seen them live, they even breathe at the same time. It's very rare when something happens like that."Landing a record deal is indeed a pretty big deal for The Davisson Brothers, Chris Davisson said. "Having worked together for the last 15 years, it's kind of a load off like a breath of fresh air, I guess you could say," he said. "Just staying in there, year after year, we've found ourselves going up the ladder being around more powerful people with bigger connections. The ride just kept going and we kept going with it."The band will be in the studio later this month, cutting the record's basic tracks in Pittsburgh, then moving on to Nashville for finalization. Mixing will be done by Brian David Willis, who has put the finishing touches on projects by Brad Paisley, Phil Vassar and Josh Turner, Brown said. Co-producing the CD are Grau and Dave Hanner, who have worked with Willie Nelson, Little Texas and Travis Tritt, among other well-known artists. The album will include original tunes "Muttontown Love," "Jump On It," "Who Hit John" and "The Whiskey Song," one likely to be pegged the group's first nationally released single, Chris Davisson said.According to Grau, a single should emerge later in 2006, with the album release sometime early in 2007.The band members have plenty going for them. Their unique energy and fresh musical approach have been nurtured by a true passion for what they do, Grau said. "They haven't been sitting around waiting for the industry to come discover them; they've gone and built their following by working hard and playing lots of dates," he said. "The way they take songs and combine different elements together is something completely new ... I've been here in Nashville for 15 years and have worked inside the conventional machine, if you will. I think what the Davissons bring is something that will be embraced by the industry. That's sheer energy and joy for what they do and we're excited about it. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------Officially formed in 1995, The Davisson Brothers Bands high energy shows have entertained a wide variety of audiences. Performing at bluegrass festivals, state fairs, concert halls, biker rallies, and fund raisers have given these boys the skills to bring people of all ages, from all over the eastern U.S. to their feet, begging for more. The band has been touring from New York to Florida, playing 200+ shows a year, gaining a vast following of fans that continues to grow rapidly. Dedicated to expanding their talent and unique sound, the band is constantly creating fresh new jams that blend Appalachian roots, blues, country, and rock all fused with a down-home feel that gets feet stompin and faces smiling. The Davisson Brothers Band have shared the stage with national recording artists such as The Allman Brothers Band, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Charlie Daniels Band, .38 Special, Rusted Root, String Cheese Incident, and Tony Rice, just in the last couple of years. Having had the opportunity to play with some of the best musicians in the world has given the boys inspiration to continue their pursuit of musical perfection. With all the experience and connections The Davisson Brothers Band have accumulated over their years, it is certain that bigger and better things are destined for these four young master jammers. They continuously surprise and entertain fans old and new, creating the ultimate good time atmosphere for events of all occasions.
