The unique style of Shaolin Kung Fu is highly respected in the field of International martail arts. Characterized by its blend of explosive power and fluid movements, Shaolin Kung Fu roots began 1500 years ago by a Buddhist monk named Bodhidharma. It was originally developed as an exercise to prepare the Shaolin monks for the rigors of their meditation training. It has evolved into a complete system based on natural movements. It combines the striking strength of a tiger, the speed of a leopard and the powerful grace of a dragon creating a highly effective martial arts form. It involves the unification of all the elements of the human body and soul. It helps in the cultivation of moral character and demonstration of spirit and temperament, promotes circulatioon and helps enhance human strength and speed of movement. It also emphasizes the exercise of thinking.
Master Shi Yan Feng is a 34th generation Shao Lin Temple Warrior Monk from the Songshan Shao Lin Temple in the Henan Province of China. He started his kung fu training at the very young age of 4. He has traveled worldwide, performing in different countries with the Shao Lin Temple Performance Team since the age of 6. He was the very first Shao Lin child to be chosen to join the Team which is comprised of only monks with exceptional martial arts abilities. He has amazed his audiences worldwide with is display of strength, flexibility, and grace. He started teaching kung fu at the Shao Lin Wushu Guan in China at the age of 12, making him the youngest instructor at the time. After his last world tour in 2002, he received an invitation to teach in Houston, Texas. During that same time he also received a movie offer in China. But because of his passion for teaching he chose to come to Houston to continue to spread Shao Lin Kung Fu and its philosophy.
