About Me

Kali Ferguson, Cultural Educator is a storyteller, poet, teaching artist, and child of the world (among other things). She began her creative journey as a child (don't we all?!) and luckily she was encouraged to continue on that path. Since the age of four, she has written and performed at local and national venues, always using her intuition and warmth to guide her. Kali engages audiences of all ages as she tells folk and original stories, interprets original and well-loved poetry, and sometimes even blesses us with a dance. Her work as a teaching artist has inspired many children and teachers to trust their own inner knowing and connect with school curriculum on a deeper level. Kali also writes and sings songs that defy definition and works in organizations to bring out the "co-creator" in everyone. Kali denied her identity as an artist for a few years in her life, walking the roads of high school Spanish teacher, event planner, economic justice organizer, and grad school student. During that time, she unwittingly rounded out her ability to process and express life. Now she uses her background in Spanish Education to tell bilingual stories, her work as event planner and organizer to connect with people, and her graduate school research skills to inform her thorough teaching artist residencies. Kali recognizes that all her experiences were part of her unique story and hopes to help others celebrate their own personal tales while learning how to realize their dreams.
