we are the magpyes
"First a warning - The Magpyes are not good for headaches, hangovers or people suffering from stress. If you like your brain intact and your metal "safe" then please don't listen to these guys. They really should come with a government health warning as you are sure to be blown back by the sheer power and incomprehensibility of their tracks. Maybe these guys are Saddams Weapons of Mass Destruction that everyone has been looking for. I love them and it's just the kind of mayhem I've come to expect from the UK Grindcore scene. This is definately anger management music and not for the faint hearted." - Lisa, UK Metal Underground
review of split ep
"The Magpyes start us off with 'We're everywhere' which, after the fair long opening sample in '-', smashes its way in, in a fashion that reminds me of Converge but gone seriously, seriously wrong (in a good way of course), and taking on a more harsh grind tinged approach. Think As The Sun Sets, Xiii PFP, Army of Flying Robots, Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Quality severely evil sounding drum machine led snarling grindcore with the occasional more sludgy and tech metal moments thrown at you. The Magpyes have nine tracks on here before the abuse is then delivered by The Arcane War Machine.
There section isn't quite so razor sharp, but it certainly still packs a pretty vicious punch, along the line of Morser, Systral and in general the German metallic grind sound. Less twists and turns but pretty venomous nonetheless, and a lot like England's own My Cross To Bare in parts, only with harder deep vocals rather than high shrieks that they prefer. Hints of crust, black metal and Johnny Truant style weirdness occasionally.A very fine split."

terrorizer review of our first demo
"Ouch, this is a nasty one! These guys play grindcore the way it was always meant to be played - as if their fucking lives depend on it. The drum machine helps them reach truly inhuman speeds, but they somehow manage to keep up with the damn thing, and the results are disconcertingly violent. Only Death Walked In High Heels drops anchor on the pace, and quickly descends into a sludgy massacre a la Eyehategod. Kudos too for the song title 'If Breast Implants Were Worth Scene Points, You'd Be A D-Cup'!"
