Kid Creole & Jay Grooves

About Me

THE DJ KID CREOLE; is currently one of the fastest moving young house DJ’s and Producers at this current time. A resident DJ for Stereo Sushi, Ministry of Sound Red Sea and the Worlds First Hed Kandi Beach Bar.‘It is a cliché’, laughs Kid Creole ‘But it did all actually start in the bedroom’, teaching himself how to mix one track into another but after two years of perfecting his new found art at the tender age of 16 his first demo mix tape produced his first residency at Trinity’s in his home city of Stoke-on-Trent. The large three levelled venue was a big scalp for him to start at and soon became on of the most popular venues to be at in a really short time. Unfortunately it was only until managers of a rival nightclub in the city finding out the genuine age of The Kid…and you can probably guess the rest! This left The Kid with no choice but to carry on perfecting the art of becoming a great DJ in the four walls of his own bedroom until he was at a legal age to enter a nightclub. However there were many influences around his local area to help him along the way, due to one of the biggest dance music events of its era ‘Golden’ at ‘The Void’. This event was being held week in and week out with DJ’s such as Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo and Carl Cox regular features at these events with The Kid following close behind as a fan in awe constantly picking up tips and perfecting his technical skills. After passing through many different and successful residencies up and down the UK and appearing at various guest spots in countries such as Portugal, Egypt, Greece and USA the Kid is gaining much earned respect, and now starting to progress into the hierarchy of the DJ world. In the winter of 2007 he agreed to a residency deal with the worlds first Hed Kandi Beach Bar and Ministry of Sound Red Sea. Since the residency begun in late February 2008 he has played amongst the top DJ’s in the world and headlined major events for world renowned brands such as Hed Kandi ‘Live’, Stereo Sushi and Housexy to name but a few.Remarkably after just 6 weeks of his newly found residency at Ministry of Sound Red Sea & Hed Kandi Beach Bar he was then asked to embark on, yet again, a new international residency. ‘State Ultra Lounge’ in Rhode Island, USA the USA the next stop…a newly built venue which The Kid has been asked to pioneer forward as the main resident for the venue with it due to be launched in the summer of 2008. Now with these two back to back international residencies on both sides of the globe The Kid can now officially be recognised as an International DJ, which is something that he has always aspired for, however in The Kids point of view is just the beginning with many goals still to be achieved. As a producer and remixer Kid Creole is one half of the two man strong duo “KidGrooves”, with the other half being Jay Grooves – www.myspace.com/kidgrooves. There first major remix is due for release in the month of August 2008 with an “Afro-Dub & Afro-Refix” of Ciappy dj & Davide Murri feat. Fabrizio Scarafile – “Winds of Victoria” on Gotta Keep Faith Records. The main release has already had major support before its official release on July 28th 2008, by the likes of Kerri Chandler, DJ Spen, and Josh from Blaze. The Kid’s sound is a smooth and sexy one, with high fidelity house at its very best. ‘It’s the soul that makes house music’, explains Kid. But be aware...The Kid does have a darker side, reaching into the depths of deep and tribal sounds. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________JAY GROOVES; got the bug for House music at the tender age of 15 being influenced by the likes of Danny Rampling, Judge Jules and Pete Tong on Radio 1, DJ mag and the original Ministry of Sound annuals. He acquired his first set of decks at 16 and after 3 months of solid practice he and Jnr. J (Hott2Deff founder) both got their first break and residencies at local bar Chevy’s. From there he honed his skills further and eventually got his second major break at Trinity’s playing again alongside Jnr. J and Kid Creole – this would eventually lead to work at all the major bars and clubs in the area. Whilst this was going on there were many DJ influences around him thanks to nights like Golden and Reckless. DJ’s such as Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Eric Morillo and Lee Burridge were all features at these events with Jay being a regular follower watching and learning in awe. Jay’s musical influences are vast however, ranging from rare groove & funk to disco & electro and everything else in between, which have helped shape the sound you hear today. Eventually playing out wasn’t enough, so Jay enrolled on the local music technology course developing his DJ skills further and picking up production and editing along the way. With that course completed, he again decided to develop his skills further and went to university to complete a degree music production. During his time at college and university Jay put on many music events (both “live” and “club) as well as getting his first track released (Minerva – Windows). Although DJing took more of a back seat during his degree, Jay kept his finger firmly on the pulse music wise and came out ready & refreshed to start DJing again after passing his degree with a more soulful sound than he use to play. It was this new sound that helped him to win a local DJ competition which lead to more work once again around the city and also inspire him to start his own night – DiscoKonspiracy. Initially meant to be a one off event, DK eventually evolved into a weekly night involving some of the areas finest talents including Jay Grooves, D’Milne and Casper Riley playing everything House. Which is where Jay has taken his sound – playing just the best in House music; be it the latest track from Steve Angello, the hottest joint from Kerri Chandler or an all time classic from Masters at Work. HOUSE. You can currently catch Jay at his residencies for Ministry of Sound and HedKandi in Hurghada, Egypt.
