There are so many!!! Looking for Richard with Al Pacino (I adore Pacino!); Benny and Joon; I Heart Huckabies; pretty much anything with Alan Rickman(love that guy!); Hamlet (Ken Branaugh's version, of course...actually pretty much any movie of his as well...did you see Theory of Flight? Loved it!); Sideways; Cradle Will Rock (the one about the Federal Theater Project? loved it!); Life is Beautiful; Basquiat (awesome artist, compelling movie)...I love movies that grab you and say, "Listen up! It's time to think about some things!" Escapism can be cerebral sometimes, right? :).....but of course, I do love the fluffy nonsense movies too...can't help myself.
Anything by David Sedaris, lol. I love his work! Because I've been more or less raised in libraries, I tend to think of books in terms of the authors and lean towards humor and novels, rather than non-fiction or history...it feels like curling up with a good friend. Gimme Virgina Woolf, gimme Anne Michaels ("Fugitive Pieces" is amazing). I adore James Baldwin! Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels...always a comfort read. I just re-read "The Dogs of Babel" by Carolyn Parkhurst...what a perspective on the power of love! I love biographies/autobiographies as well...I've always been a Gandhi-ite! Check out Annie Lamott's "Traveling Mercies," if you get the chance....I'm not a religious person by any means, but I truly enjoy her perspective on Christianity. If you have anything you'd like me to read, TELL ME!!!
Greg Jackson!!!!! Mathew Stratta, Debi Purcell, Lucia Rijker, Marco Ruas, Mario Roberto, James Clingerman, GRETA HICKS!!! Kourtney McCarty, Mat Stratta, Lloyd Irvin, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Rainer Maria Rilke, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Archbishop Oscar Romero...I could go on for hours....fighters and peacemakers; poets and artists...I am firmly convinced that it doesn't really matter WHAT path each of these people have taken--to me, they shine!
Who Should Paint You: Alfred Gockel
All American yet funky, you inspire an artist's imagination
And while not everyone will understand your portrait, you will!
What Artist Should Paint Your Portrait?
