"YOU CANT TELL ME I AINT SOMETHING!!!!" Screams one young Paul Brown... "I'm Paul Brown and I got money, Ya dig!?" says Paul to many onlookers at HSL High School. "Watch me make em run to the money like that there!" On any given day one can witness Paul Brown entertaining his classmates with talks of lavish balling and stunting. You ask where a 14 year old can get such ideas for this type of conversation? Well just ask Paul and he'd tell you that "nothing gets burn in my little ole iPod but that boy Curtains ya dig?! Watch how I show off em on!!!" Paul is another victim of what many call "Dopeism" a contagious behavior caused by listening to the new album "A Beautiful Mind" by Curtains. The album sets off with the necksnapping "In My Mind" where Curtains loudly proclaims " Growing up I used to think a 745 wa-was balling/ Til I flew a G5- wha-whats balling?/ When the kids in the mine/ Get they hands cut off once they find a dia-mond" With lines like that you know you are not in for any regular joyride. Cuts such as "Show Off", "See Me Coming" and "Everybody Move" set the lyrical stuntacious tone of the album where Paul gets his behavior from. You ask Paul to describe his mentality in one line and he'd say "A nigga so fly I put my clothes on the same hangers niggas park they G5's/ you know what i'm talkin bout?/ If not then keep your eyes- closed...Imagine this/ My lifestyle like an acid trip"... A line borrowed from the song "I Aint Something". Dopeism has been spreading rampart in HSL High due in fact to Paul Brown's constant chant of "I just came to show off my new ride!" kids wanna be just like Paul, little do they know Paul just wanna be Curtains. A deeper investigation into Dopeism leads one to witness the more vulnerable side of Curtains on songs such as "Before I Go" where Curtains breaks down his materialistic mentality with lines such as "Running out of paper, i should've recycled/ I shoulda been insightful/ They say put something to the side for a rainy day/ I rather walk thru puddles in my Bathing Apes..." Paul Brown couldn't have said it any better. A materialist himself Paul uses lines like "Dior jeans on/ I got a mean ole'/ I mean cold style/ check the profile/ hit the myspace/ I got fly taste/ girl, time is money so why waste?" as his motivation to keep going. "You Cant Tell Me I Aint Something!!!" Screams Paul Brown as he leaves school for home everyday, encouraging his classmates that Curtains is the way to go. When they ask Paul what it is about Curtains that is so intriguing and captivating...he pauses, analyzes the album and looks you dead in the eye and says proudly.... "Its The Shoes!"
