About Me

For the past seven years, Forrest has enjoyed part-time gigs as a pianist and percussionist with The Richmond Ballet and The Virginia Commonwealth University's Modern Dance Department. He has composed music for their performances and incorporates improvisation into every class he accompanies. Currently Forrest performs around Richmond with The Chemists, an original trio fusing the talents of John Small on bass and Brian Mahne ..boards (http://www.myspace.com/thechemistslab). He has also begun working with Slash Coleman on various new projects, including an updated verion of "The Neon Man and Me" (www.slashcoleman.com).However, since the early 90's, he has drummed in many other diverse musical projects: The Anthony Curtis Band (progressive fusion, 2005-2007) Total Freeform (avant garde/improv, 1997-2005) Spectrum (big band/top forty, 2004-2005) Little Shop of Horrors (Lynchburg theater, 2004) Pop Culture Casualties (emo, 2003-2004) Schwill (jam band, 1995-2004) Modern Groove Syndicate (fusion jazz, 2002-2003) The VCU Jazz Ensemble (1998-2000) The VCU Percussion Ensemble (1998-2000) Quiet Steps (jazz-fusion, 1999-2000) Walter Bell's Latin Jazz Unit (1998-1999), Forever Patsy Cline (Theater Virginia, summer 1998) and The Jim Westlyn Band (acoustic rock, 1994-2007).Forrest uses Yamaha Oak Custom drums, Sabian and Zildjian cymbals, and Vator sticks (mostly).
