Emma Sound es MUJER pionera en la escena underground, raices y de world
beat en Nueva York. Tiene como escuela y escenario el controversial
Bulgarian Bar (mehanata) y lleva aproximadamente 15 anios de
experimentacion e investigacion musical bajo el respaldo y tutoria del legendario
DJ HUTZ (Gogol Bordello) , el versatil DJ DUBTA (Gogol Bordello), y MAXIMUS RESPECT DJ Joro Boro. Emma
Sound es residente de
Mehanata y ha compartido escenario con DJ Scratchy (UK), DJ Joro Boro,
Eclectica, Vector Zero, Dj Karim, Uproot Andy y mas. Comprometida de manera activa en varios proyectos
musicales, colectivos y bandas no solo como DJ sino como interprete
(Juglares empiricos, Escarioka sound system, Chasqui Hi fi, La 15 provee and
U.C.N.Y.collective) y productora junto a Pedro Erazo (Rebel roots Fest). Emma Sound tambien ha
colaborado en la busqueda y seleccion de la banda sonora del documental
"Alligator on the Zipper", producido y dirigido por Ivo Stainoff y
Jessica Chorneski.
Su enfoque principal es mantener la education cultural y conciente que la musica provee. En su extensa busqueda de musica ha tenido la suerte de compartir e intercambiar musica con Deeder Zaaman (Asian Dub Foundation) Esteban Rivera (Skampida, Furibundo Serna, Skartrel) Magu (Desorden Publico, Papa Shanti), DJ Karim, El Indio (Radiochango) Dj OK (Gogol Bordello), Juan Pablo Varela (Dirty Salsa y Pulsar), Babylon Motorhome y Andy Gillis.Los libros son lo maximo, pero los hechos reales de sucesos culturales e historicos a travez de las eras, eMMa los ha encontrado en las liricas y en la musica de todos los tiempos. La emancipacion ha sido la inspiracion principal de este proyecto donde todo el mundo preocupado en todo el mundo esta invitado a participar, pero sobre todo la gente que vive y respira musica y que canta el llanto y la risa es casi necesario que participe.
Emma sound has been a fixture and pioneer on the Female NYC roots, and
world beat underground scene.
Schooling at the controvertial Bulgarian Bar (mehanata), after 15 years
of tireless music research and with the tutorial support of legendary
dj Hutz(Gogol Bordello) ,versatile dj Dubta(Gogol Bordello), and Maximus Respect DJ Joro Boro. She has
made it to the stage and dj booth in a constant basis,
at Mehanata. Sharing with artist and djs such as
legendary dj Scratchy (U.K), dj Joro Boro, Eclectica, Vector Zero and more.
Engaged in several musical projects, collectives and bands, she keeps
herself very active in the underground NYC scene, not only as a dj, but
also as a performer (Juglares empiricos, Escarioka sound system,
Chasqui Hi fi, La 15 provee and U.C.N.Y.collective) event producer (Rebel
roots Fest) and resource provider for foreing bands and artists.
Emma sound has also collaborated in the research and selection of music
for the soundtack of the documentary "Alligator on the Zipper"
(produced and directed by Ivo Stainoff and Jessica Chorneski).Her main focus at the moment is to keep up the cultural and conscious education process that music provides. She was lucky to exchange music with people such as Deeder Zaaman(Asian Dub Foundation) Esteban Rivera (Skampida, Furibundo Serna, Skartel), Magu (Desorden Publico, Papa Shanti), Dj Karim, El Indio(Radio Chango)dj OK(Gogol Bordello), Juan Pablo Varela (Dirty Salsa, Pulsar) and Andy Gillis(Uproot Andy).
Books are very helpfull, but the real facts of cultural and historical events throughtout the eras, she has found in lyrics and music of all times. EMANCIPATION has been the inspiration for this project were everybody who cares about everybody, is welcome to participate, but most of all, everybody who loves and lives music, is needed to participate.
