Noise, 33/45/78 rpm's, Chicano folklore, urban anthropology, atavism, origins, and the unknown. I ain't trying to sound deep, so come off it!
The ones who fear not, other Green Beaners (Irish/Mexican descent), my many alter egos and doppelgangers, people who take the time out to read the small print, and the alienated.
I am music walking like a man! If I haven't heard it, I'm going to hear it soon. My heart, mind, body and soul stays on the blues and all of its by-products, though. Real Gospel is a big force in my life also. My favorite record of the week is: "Haackula" by Bruce Haack (unreleased)
American Me, Chicago Blues (the Harley Cockliss documentary), Shawshank Redemption, Blood In Blood Out, Boulevard Nights, And This Is Free, UHF, anything by Troma, Cannibal Holocaust, It's A Wonderful Life, Straight No Chaser, Swing Kids, Zoot Suit, 200 Motels, Wattstax, The Cry Of Jazz, Dead Presidents, Cheech And Chong's complete works, The Magic Sun, There Will Be Blood, The Devil And Daniel Johnston
Sanford And Son. I now am the proud owner of all 6 seasons on DVD. I like that show where they overdub crazy English dialogue over the Japanese game shows also. I love BET Comic View. I like Jerry Springer, yet on the flipside I can watch the History Channel all day too! Whoever says they despise TV just doesn't have cable....
Yeah, I read, but it's more like magazines than books. I have subscriptions to Living Blues and Waxpoetics. Go figure. When I do read books, it can range from Donald Goines to various musician biographies to world history.
The people that brought me into this world, the people who shaped me into what I am today, the people who helped and still help me to see a better tomorrow, and the people who will be by my side when I leave this temporary home. Most importantly, the man who's got my back no matter what- Jesus.
