So powerful that he can’t help but to have his own unique style. Together they kick out the sweet melancholy laced songs of love and desperation. They are all solid musicians, combined they have a unified sound and a brilliant stage presence.The band started out in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2004 and instantly found a sound uniquely their own. Happy pop at first, but a closer listen reveals a much darker side not unlike some of the big British acts from the 80's
I didn't take long for the Copenhagen public to catch on and The Cupids soon played a number of shows in Denmark, culminating with a sold out show at Copenhagen’s premium venue "Rust" in January 2005 Since then, the band has been busy writing songs, playing shows - including a short trip to London’s Water Rats club. A recent well-received gig at Loppen in December was a warm up for what's to come in 2006.
The story of The Cupids is one of unlikely people meeting and unlikely things happening. Hailing from different countries and backgrounds the members each bring a characteristic and easy recognizable touch to the music. The strong and deep felt voice of Lior Bazak, combined with Jacobs indie-rock schooled guitar mixed with more light sounds of strings and electronics, makes for a very distinct outfit.
