Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.

About Me

I'm from Iowa, but I'm not proud of that fact. I wish I were a Canadian. Or a Briton; from a very young age I've been fixated on Britain. I blame sitcoms. I miss thunderstorms, but not much else about Iowa (except certain lovely people who know who they are). I became a mathematician basically out of laziness, as I didn't feel like getting a real job. Hopefully I'll never have to get one. They don't sound like much fun. Though maybe math doesn't sound like much fun to you; who knows? It takes all sorts, as the saying goes. I won't judge you. Or if I do, I'll do it very quietly and keep it to myself. I'm a bit of an ivory tower type; I'm not what you'd call sporty at all, though I like a good walk and I can climb slippery coastal rocks like nobody's business. I get along well with seals. I am what you'd call an effete intellectual. I am as gay as a big faggy goose, but I warn you: I'm not big on divas and I don't spend much time on my hair.

My Interests

Science fiction. Renaissance history, Giordano Bruno in particular. Sunsets. Thunderstorms, and that lovely fresh growing smell afterwards. England. Latin, especially Catullus and Juvenal. Walks, hikes, mountains, oceans, dramatic landscapes. Theatre. Impressionism. David Lynch. My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. Guinness. How we construct the illusion of meaning in our lives. Electronic music and good solid rock. Science! I've always wanted to be a writer but never had the talent.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet rational human beings curious about the world they live in, willing and able to say what they think, with some kind of motivating passion in life. Especially gay male rational human beings with pretty eyes who are kind to small animals.
