Who said us brown people aint got the Blues?!

About Me

Music Republic was formed by frustrated musicians tired of being fed the same garbage year after year, day after day. This garbage we speak of is the mainstream "music" they play on the radio. Unfortunately there is not much people can do but just turn the radio on and be forced to hear this garbage. We believe the problem is that outside of radio most people think that there is no other music except what is played on the radio. We beg you to not be so naïve. My complaint is where I reside..and that is Chicago. It’s embarrassing to live in Chicago and turn on our only jazz station and then hear what is coming out of the radio. What you are hearing is a CHEAP, looped beat over and over with a weak rhythm section accompanied with a solo that repeats so much you would think it’s another rhythm. And what’s even more upsetting is that the DJ’s on the show praise the songs as if they were truly good and tasteful!! It’s so ridiculous. They have been playing the same stuff for the past ten years. I will admit I used to be a listener to that station but only cause I couldn’t stand the rest of the stuff on the radio. Now I know if you are traveling to Chicago I bet you wanna say “well hey I wanna hear some blues”. Well sorry JACK!!! There is no blues station in Chicago, I did find a station that would play only one hour one day a week at nine PM of blues music…. Isn’t that disgusting?!?! A city were not to long ago blues was in everyone’s home and in everyone’s heart is now totally abandoned. There are plenty of blues clubs and very talented players but no one is listening. I went to a club in Chicago to see a very good blues musician named Mem Shannon. This guy has paid his dues in moving up the ladder for music and you would think that maybe people would actually sit down and listen to his music. NOPE of course not lets all get really fuckin drunk and dance like morons and talk really loud so the people that are trying to listen to the music can absolutely not. Radio has reduced all genres into flabby lackluster ideas of real music. Now the only thing left is rap and pop stations, and back in the 90’s rap was at its best. And then you had guys like Michael Jackson representing your typical pop music. Rap is now about how much money a man can throw around or how well endowed he thinks he is. Or how many women he can sleep with in a days time. And the women who follow along with this idea and throw their bodies around to different men in the videos and subject themselves as flesh with no brain or soul, destroy what women have been fighting for since the beginning of time…RESPECT.Music Republic is a Blues Funk latin band based in chicago.
