The Stompin' Charlies

No, we're not broken up!

About Me

A Somewhat Concise History of The Stompin' Charlies
We started around 2000 or 2001; no one is really sure when we were born, but they know who the parents are...We write songs about things in our lives, usually girls, and we could really care less what you think about that. We play fast, and try to play well without being too "under the influence". We've taken a few long vacations from playing, but coming back to eachother after these breaks just makes us want to play even more. We released our first CD, "Life's Too Short", 8 tracks in 16 minutes back in about 2003. It was recorded with Steve Foote of Big D & The Kids Table at Fork In Hand Studios in Allston, MA, and our buddy Dave Lazardo produced it. After having released this CD on our friend Tom's now defunct record label Cartridge Music, we played shows whenever we could and garnered a small, yet dedicated local following. Songs from that CD such as, "And She Goes", "Halfback Options", and "Andre's Big" have become a staple of our live act since it's release, though certain songs we try and try to retire but it just doesn't work. Gotta listen to the fans...
We played a lot of shows, got a bad review in Maximum Rock 'n Roll, a good one from Askew Reviews, and a lot of positive comments from people at shows. Fast forward a year or two, and you would find us recording our second album, and follow up to Life's Too Short, at 202 Lions in Quincy MA, with the allmighty Marc "Skip" Flynn of Drexel/Big D fame. We recorded 16 new songs, plus one acoustic in about a week. That CD, having never been officially released, sat around for about a year gathering dust, while we still played shows. We stopped playing shows around May of '05, when Greyson went on a mysterious cruise to the Bermuda Triangle, and some strange stuff happened there which we will not divulge. We stayed dormant, despite plans for touring which kinda fell through. We were supposed to play a show on September 11th at Milly's Tavern in Manchester, NH but that fell through. It would've been our first show in 4 months. Yet again, we got sent back into dormancy due to lack of motivation from us, and people being in college and so on and so fourth. In December of that year, we decided to call it quits for some reason, and so we did. Our last show was great, and we made 100 copies of our newest full length "Never Cool Enough" which is now sold out. Not sure if we're going to re-press that or not.
Months and months pass, and we all play in other bands or other musical endeavors, and yet it's still not the same as TSC. After a tour, which ended in the break up of the band that Tristan was in, Matt & Tristan decided on the way back home to NH that they wanted to start TSC back up again. Matt called Shane and Greyson, and they were both 100% down with the idea. Thus followed a basement show at their friend Louies house on July 2nd of '06 with the Asthmatics and TKC, which marked our return. We've played 6 or 7 shows since then, and book whenever the situation arises. So far, every show has been more fun than the last and we hope to keep it that way. It's great to know that that special feeling about playing music with your best friends is still there for us.
Which takes us to the present...We are currently practicing whenever our schedules will allow, and working on some new songs. We hope to have some demos ready in the coming weeks, and also a special Christmas demo CD with a very special X-Mas tune on it. If you would like us to play your show, e-mail us at [email protected] . Stay tuned here for more details as they come to us!
