About Me

I'm not much for words when it comes to describing myself. If you don't already know me and would like to begin the arduous journey of trying to learn all "About Me:", grab a beer, kick your feet up, take a look around & send me a message!

I think this movie is SO beautiful...I suggest muting it and turning up Cat Stevens though.

My Interests

I read... a lot. I love hiking, camping, things that grow, cooking, movies, kids (especially my own)...

I'd like to meet:

Music:

I guess my taste is somewhat eclectic... just about everything but rap, techno, hip-hop or HEAVY metal.
OH, and you can scratch polka off the list too. And it's not that I have never been exposed to it either. An ex of mine's parents were BIG into it so I've heard my fair share... blech.

Movies:

Peter Jackson, Guillermo Del Toro, Martin Scorsese, Tim Burton... ANYTHING with Johnny Depp or Cate Blanchett in it...

Television:

History, Science, Natl. Geo., Food TV, LOST, Ghost Hunters, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, The Office...

Books:

Where to start... Classics for the most part but I've been known to enjoy a "trashy page turner" on occasion! I've read the first five of The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind and am looking forward to more. I like Steven King, Anne Rice, Tom Clancy... Dickens, Tolstoy, Bronte, Hawthorne, Jane Austen, C.S. Lewis ... Kahlil Gibran, Marianne Williamson...OoOoOo, I enjoy reading poetry, mostly Romantic and Victorian era stuff- Lord Byron, Emerson, William Blake, John Keats, Samuel Beckett, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Browning, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Shakespeare, Yeats....
But...
I am a Tolkien nerd extraordinaire , can't get enough... lucky for me he was such a prolific writer.
This is probably my favorite book because it contains a short story called "Leaf by Niggle" which, I think, is an allegory of Tolkien's creative process, and to a certain degree, maybe his own life (and mine).
And don't laugh at me but I read all the Harry Potter books (loved 'em)and am almost through the 3rd with my son! .

Heroes:

My Grandma, LeeAnne, Jim Henson, J.R.R.T.
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal.
~George Gordon, Lord Byron~
Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
~W.B. Yeats~
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
~W.B. Yeats~
