Baseball, reading, happy hour with the boys, Madden '08, and "researching" the beer story I've been working on.
Nobody. Icons are best left alone.
Van Morrison, Iron & Wine, Death Cab for Cutie/The Postal Service, The Shins, Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters/Mark Kozelek, DMB, The Posies, Toad the Wet Sprocket/Glen Phillips, Crowded House/Neil Finn, The Gin Blossoms, Storyhill, and that one Kanye West song about Jesus.
In this order: Kicking and Screaming, Braveheart, American Beauty, Field of Dreams, The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, Tommy Boy, Big Fish, and Gladiator.
The Office is the best show currently on TV but I also watch Rescue Me, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Lost. My all-time favorite shows are Northern Exposure, Twin Peaks, Buffy/Angel, The Wonder Years and The Simpsons. I also like a bunch of shows that got cancelled in their first season like Firefly and Wonderfalls. I like game shows too. Jeopardy and Lingo will get me to stop channel surfing every time.
The Catcher in the Rye, Franny & Zooey, The Broters Karamazov & The Brothers K (by David James Duncan), Cry,The Beloved Country, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Caught Inside: A Surfer's Year on The California Coast, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The World According To Garp, Generation X, Microserfs, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Skinny Legs and All, A Certain Chemistry, The Stones of Summer, The Count of Monte Cristo, anything by Charles Bukowski and Robert Bly . . .Books I hated: Gregory Maguire's Mirror, Mirror and Lost. Saul Bellow's Ravelstein. Lester Bang's Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung (because I didn't get it). Castle to Castle by Celine (for the same reason) and Tristram Shandy because I just couldn't get into it.
Zorro.
