James McGarvie-Munn aka Sprayfonk is a musician, producer and DJ living in London, UK and originates from Germany, Scotland and Guatemala. Brought up in the south of France, James discovered his passion for music at an early age through playing guitar and percussion. In 1999, having won a battle of the bands competition in France he moved to London to study music sound engineering at London College of Music and later at SAE. Since then he has been experimenting with the performance and production of all kinds of music ranging from world music to electronica.
Since his initial passion for synthesizers, Sprayfonk has been involved in a motley of electronic music projects but his preference is jacking house, hip hop and electronica. On the flip side, he also composes production music for the TV and film industry and also releases records under his other alias: James What.
Nowadays, pursuing his passion for electronic music, James produces and performs his own blend of funky/deep house under the project name Sprayfonk and has been working with Los Angeles based Deepfunk Records notably with his remixes of Blacksouls "I got soul", the Sexicanz vs Megadank 4200s "Futuristic Funk" and his debut EP "Take Your Shoes Off". His other alias James What, which he uses for his more tech house productions has also proved successful with releases on labels such as Poker Flat and Treibstoff.
James also writes music for the TV and broadcast industry and was invited to take part in the Red Bull Music Academy 2005 held in Seattle. Now 21 years old, he is focusing on producing more records while pursuing other music and business projects and performing his live sets across the US and Europe.
