Tukazon
Fusing together Indie, Jazz, Funk and Hip-Hop, ‘Tukazon’ are a 5 piece band based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands in the UK. Creating an original sound within the growing Midlands music scene, they still continue to build up a large following with their inimitable sound.
The band was formed by cousins Ricky Deakin and Jason Elson in 2002 and they enlisted the help of DJ Amo (aka Andy Ames) to work on creating new sounds and blending guitars with hip hop scratchin' and samples. In April 2005 Mitch Crane’ – a funky young drummer spotted on the local circuit, joined the band and they guys are now lucky enough to have bassist Russ Hollinshead to complete the lineup.
Tukazon have supported the likes of ‘Vincent Vincent and the Villains’, ‘Milburn’ and British/Australian act ‘Bodyrockers.
Towards the end of 2006, Tukazon entered a national Battle of the Bands competition, held in Wolverhampton – its location and history giving the band an even bigger opportunity to get their music heard by more people, and to try and raise their profile further. Over 100 bands and 3 months later, Tukazon successfully won the final deservedly taking first place ahead of 6 other bands on the night.
Since then the guys have been building on the amazing local support they have always received with their live work, and entered the studio to record new material. Tracks are to be digitally available to buy in the new year and following that, Tukazon’s debut album is being planned.
Keep your eyes and ears open for Tukazon….
