ABOUT US

Hello and welcome to Audio Music Star. Andy Lysandrou is it’s founder; we feel it is important you understand his industry background, with some insight into the achievements of his multi-faceted team.
After starting as a teenage radio dj, Andy’s first foray into the music business was in the urban/ dance field, starting and running his own independent record company where he served his apprenticeship, along with friends, learning every aspect of a varied and complex industry. He learnt the recording processes, publishing, management, and manufacturing. Also creating an in-house distribution network, and fashioning a promotions & dj network.
This facilitated the move to a new venture, Ice Cream Records. Working from the street or ‘grass roots’ level up, launching club, radio and mainstream records. Subsequently, his team of producers and re-mixers worked on the likes of Whitney Houston, Jordan Knight (New Kids On The Block), Ultra Nate free (UK No.1 single), Kylie Minogue (“Can’t Get You Outta My Head” UK & European No.1 single) to name a few. In 2007, his team of producers and re-mixers, worked on Justin Timberlake's single, ‘Sexy Back’, helping it to get No.1 in the UK. In 2008 Warner Records UK utilised the services of Audio Music Star & Ice Cream Records’ production, marketing and promotions team for two Craig David singles. The brief was simple… to create fresh hype around Craig David. Audio Music Star, in conjunction with Ice Cream Records, took the whole project on, from start to finish. Within 3 months our team achieved two of the biggest urban tracks of the year, both records going straight to Number 1 in the BBC urban charts, as well as Craig giving a show-stopping performance of one of the tracks, “Where’s Your Love”, live at the Mobo Awards 2008, our work catapulted Craig David to the highest level, once again. We’ve previously released the single ‘Everybody Come On (Can You Feel It) by Mr Reds featuring Busta Rhymes, it went on to be a national chart hit and a No.1 dance chart hit.
Andy was also one of the founder members of the band True Steppers, which spurned collaborations with Victoria Beckham, Brian Harvey and Dane Bowers, amongst others. Andy co-wrote and co-produced the single ‘Out Of Your Mind’ featuring Victoria Beckham, and with his team, promoted the single, releasing it on his record label as a limited release before signing a major deal with BMG. 'Out Of Your Mind' went to No.2 in the charts and is still the biggest selling solo effort by any of the Spice Girls to date. In an epic chart battle, with Spiller ft Sophie Ellis Bextor, our single sold 185,000 copies in the first week alone! Across the various projects Audio Music Star have been involved in, they can claim total sales of over 10 million records.
The release and chart success of 'Rip Groove' by Double99, which Ice Cream Records signed back in 1997, changed the face of clubbing, as it was then known. It spawned the UK Garage movement, which evolved after 'Rip Groove' became the first national chart hit by an underground garage act. This kicked open the doors, in terms of national chart action, and the world of the major labels, where, since then, over 300 deals have been struck with EMI, Sony BMG, Arista, Virgin, Universal, Warner’s, Ministry Of Sound, MCA, and XL Recordings.
In 2000 our producer / remix team reworked & re-produced Kele Le Roc’s ‘My Love’, for the project we also took on full promotion and marketing for this mix. ‘My Love’ went on to become one of the biggest ever vocal club records to date, still receiving weekly rotation in venues and radio across the country, seven years later.
Our production team also produced, edited, and assisted in mixing, the multi-disc-award winning ‘Twice as Nice’ album series for Warner Records. The AMS team also co-compiled the first ever No 1 chart selling garage compilation album, ‘Speed Garage Anthems Vol 1’, with Global TV, it went on to achieve gold sales status and out of the 41 tracks on the album, 13 of them were our own labels.
Happily, we have fostered good ongoing working relationships with the aforementioned record companies, as well as the top major and independent publishers. Most recently, utilizing our stable of dj's and producers to provide top mixes and productions for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Destiny's Child, Craig David, Pink, Alicia Keys, Charlotte Church, Basement Jaxx and Lemar. We also contributed heavily to promotion and marketing various artists mixes for the major record companies such as Virgin, Sony BMG, Universal, EMI, XL, Warner’s and Arista.
We have our in house high grade photographers who have snapped big name artists such as the Spice Girls, Boyzone and Usher, to name a few.
In all, the Audio Music Star team has 20 years nuts & bolts experience in the music industry, and in the last 8 years alone can boast over 30 Top 40 hits including 5 No.1's and regular appearances in the UK dance chart with no less than 20 Top 5 placings (including 10 No.1's). A proud mention, for Andy, in the “Guinness Book of Who's Who in Dance” is testament to him for his pioneering music endeavors.
Our team, from A&R, record producers, songwriters, promotions to the marketing team right though to major and independent record and publishing companies, are in place at the highest levels, working in this venture.
We have achieved this over the years while still never forgetting our initial underground & ‘street’ ethics and their formula for commercial and critical success. Even when working with the biggest names, such as Victoria Beckham, the policy was always to immerse them in our world whilst we worked in theirs.
After 20 years experience in the entertainment industry Andy decided to pool and package his and his teams’ knowledge, and return it as a product… this pioneering outfit is Audio Music Star. Our recent work with Craig David feat Tinchy Stryder "Where's Your Love" and "Are You Up For This" both tracks went to Number 1 in the urban charts. An A&R face to face meeting with one of our consultants consists of our A&R team listening up to 3 of your tracks before our meeting. We will then discuss in person full feedback and advice about where we feel your music is best suited within the industry. We will also discuss the overall direction we feel that you aim to take, as well as what Audio Music Star can offer. During our meeting we can also give you advice on various areas of the Music Industry from Publishing, Management, Production/Remixes, Record Labels, Artist Agreements, Disputes, Sample Clearance, Marketing and Recording Studios. OPTION 1 - REMIX AND PROMOTION
We remix your track then put together a club and radio promotional campaign using your original track and the new remix. For this option the remixes we specialise in are RnB, most styles of House Music ,UK Funky, UK Garage, and Bassline.
We also include up to 400 CDs on body, full colour, in plastic sleeves of your remix for promotional use only by Audio Music Star.
THIS IS A GREAT CATAPULT FOR ALL NEW ARTISTS LOOKING FOR MAXIMUM EXPOSURE
We first listen to up to three of your original tracks, then advise you on which track we think is best for us to remix. Whether it's an RnB, UK Garage, or house remix you require us to do we have some of the biggest established names in-house.

Once your remix is complete, we will put a club and radio plot in place, and target club and radio dj's nationwide that speciailse in your type of music. We also cover the taste maker dj's the a list of dj's . This campaign is based over our six week top level promotion and plugging service. Our aim is to get maximum exposure for you, as an artist, and your music.
In a recent example, our service recently achieved two No 1 records in the urban charts for Craig David with one of Craig's records feat Tinchy Stryder. The option 1 service can also be very useful if you are looking to create exposure for you and your music leading up to the release of your record. OPTION 2 - PRODUCTION
Our Producers and Remixers… we produce your track from start to finish.
Producers and Remixers can play an integral part in your road to success. A hit record always needs a good producer to make and provide an acoustically professional package, and often can re-work a song and/or track to take it into a completely new market. Our producers and remixers have worked on artists including Justin Timberlake, Craig David, Charlotte Church, Destiny’s Child, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Kylie, Sugababes, Basement Jaxx and Lemar.
We will produce your track from start to finish. First we’ll sit down with you to go over the style of track (or tracks) you would like us to produce. At the same time, if you need our writers to help you with songwriting, we can also arrange this. The track would be produced at one of our professional studios with a fully qualified engineer and producer. Most of our producers have worked on a minimum of 5 hit records.
OPTION 3 - A&R FOR INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS
A&R
A&R, is where we listen to your demo or finished master(s) and advise you on what we think and the steps you should take next.
Our A&R team that will listen to your music will have had at least 7 top 40 hit records. We specialize in Pop, R'n'B, Hip Hop, Club/Dance and Indie. We are also specialists in all aspects of urban music including UK Garage,Uk Funky, Grime, and Bassline.
OPTION 4 - DESIGN
Design services from print to web
Our in-house team are specialist in designing music flash animated websites which include the overall website and flash banners. We also have a service of video editing for all types of media.
In addition, we can design corporate logos, posters, flyers, advertisements, banners, brochures, business cards, cd/dvd, and packaging. We can also deliver specialist illustrations, for character design, t-shirt design and other materials.
OPTION 5 - MARKETING
Our in-house team design flash animated websites which include the overall website and flash banners. We also have a service of video editing for all types of media.
Our specialist Marketing Manager Katie Walsh has been working within the music industry for over 8 years and is Marketing CIM qualified.

With our skills, we can promote and market your music and yourselves. If you plan on releasing your music yourselves, we can give you a step-by-step guide.
Radio and Club Promotion:
This is where we promote your style of music to the right radio and club djs. We can also set up radio interviews; this can be discussed in further detail.
Digital Sales:
We can advise you on all you need to know about digital sales / downloads, and can direct you to the best Internet sites to act as retail outlets for your style of music. We can also negotiate your digital deals and review contracts for you.
Appointment of Artist Management:
One thing we have seen many many times over the years is bad management. Managers that used to be ‘dodgy car dealers’, looking to make a quick buck! We can advise and steer you clear of the pitfalls, which could cost you heavily in the future.
Recording Studios:
Now this is were the fun starts and where the hits are made! Nowadays, there are lots of studios, picking the right one is very important. In most cases, if our producers are making your record then we handle that side all the way. If not we can point you in the right direction and we can also negotiate the best prices for studios for you.
How to set up and run a successful record label:
We can give you a step-by-step guide in how to setup and run a successful record label or record company, from start to finish. Remember, running your own label will give you full control, YOU can choose when you want to release your music and the style of music to release. A record deal is not the only option, though there is additional work involved, releasing your own record on your own record label can bring great long-term rewards.
Music Publishing
This is where we advise you on who the suitable publishers for your music are, and what to look for in a publishing deal, including, advances, royalty payments, term of copyright, and so on. We can advice assist you with registering your songs with applicable societies (e.g. MCPS/ PRS). We can also negotiate your deal on your behalf; it’s an area in which we have over 10 years experience.
Photographers for you, your group, or band
This can occasionally be the final factor in securing a record deal. So, when a set of photographs is requested, or a necessity, record companies will want to see you looking your best, on paper or screen, a good set of photos facilitate this. We have our own in-house snappers that have taken photos for The Spice Girls, Boyzone and Usher, to name a few.
Wanting to become a radio dj?
We can advise you on all you need to know about the process, and assist you with recording your show reel. We have contacts throughout the radio world.
Licensing
In licensing your music (the ‘recordings’) to a major or independent label, it is very important that you understand how a recording contract works. Most record companies sign you up for a number of years, so you will need a lawyer to look over the contract. However, we can advise you on all you need to know, and look for, when entering recording contract negotiations, so as to facilitate the best deal. We can also negotiate the deal on your behalf, and work closely with your lawyer.
Music lawyers
This is a path we have crossed many many times. Lawyers can be very expensive, and because a lawyer is charging £400 an hour, this does not necessarily mean they are the best, from our personal experience. We have access to a range of top music law firms in the UK, with decades of experience.
Creating the crucial buzz around your music you or your band.
Below is an example of how we created the hype around one of the biggest records in the last 10 years.
When we took on Victoria Beckham, as a featured artist, this was her very first solo project after the Spice Girls; we had to make it a success, no ifs or buts. Our promotion machine was put in to top gear, and we also knew it was a matter of time before the media would hear about our new project, so it had to be a HIT. We didn’t even put Victoria’s name on our promotion cds or press release, nothing, just Truesteppers - ‘Out Of Your Mind’… WHY? Because we were also pushing for the credible market, a market were the Spice Girls had never crossed before, not even as solo artists, though at the same time we also promoted it to the pop market. We created a demand for the song, if Victoria’s name were put on the promotion; we probably wouldn’t have had the support from most of the premier ‘cool’ djs. In the end it was the premier cool djs that provided grassroots support, and championed the track. From the beginning, the initial promotion for ‘Out Of Your Mind’ was done by our team long before BMG got involved. To date ‘Out Of Your Mind’ featuring Victoria Beckham is reported to be the biggest solo from any of the Spice Girls, selling 185,000 singles in week one alone! To date out of your mind has sold over 800,000 singles in the UK alone.
The music business is one of the hardest industries to break into. We have seen it over and over again with frustrated individuals, groups, and bands that have worked tirelessly on recording their music, spending thousands of pounds of their hard earned money, not knowing where to turn to next. There is a lot of work that goes into a project after the recording progress is over. Record companies receive lots of music daily, imagine your music on the desk of an A&R person along with over 100 demos that they receive daily, every one looking for that golden deal. For example, there could be 10 bands with the same style and quality music as yours, but, the market place only has room for one, or if you’re lucky two. We have a very good, on-going, working relationship with many of the major and independent record companies including Sony BMG, EMI, Warners, Virgin, Universal, Polydor, XL, Skint, Positiva, and Ministry of Sound. Now what we believe, and a lot of our projects have been worked in this way many times, we create the buzz, and the record companies come to us. We have signed over 300 deals this way in the last 10 years, all together we have PRODUCED, REMIXED, AND WRITTEN on over 30 Top 40 hit records including various number 1 ‘s in the last 8 years.

Which artists have you worked on?

How long does it take to make a record?
This all depends on how you good a singer you are. Some artists can lay a song in 2 hours; some take more than 3 working days! The main thing is to practice-practice-practice, learning the flow of the track, song lyrics, and melody, thus making sure you are in your best possible state of readiness by the time your studio date arrives.
Will I have to have an audition before I can make my record?
No, we are not a talent show; we supply a service to you. However, in certain circumstances we may decide that we do not want to work on a record with you. A basic demo from you can be helpful to us, though not essential.
My song is finished, mixed, and mastered. What I need next is an RnB or Garage remix of my song, then I would like the new mixes promoted to clubs and specialist radio, can you help?
Yes, we have some of biggest established, gold disc accredited, remixers in-house that specialise in these musical styles, having remixed a multitude of stars including, Justin Timberlake, Jordan Sparks, and Usher.
Promotion-wise, we also cover nationwide club and radio promotion on a full on scale, recently achieving two No.1s with Craig David on the BBC urban chart.

If I want to market, manufacture, and release my own song (or songs) can you help me, and does it cost thousands of pounds?
No not at all. If you are thinking of marketing, promoting, and manufacturing your music yourself, we can show you the best, and most cost effective way to do this. We can advise you on how to go about having your cd distributed to the shops and on the Internet. We can also help you sell your music on export; a lot of artists have done this over the years and been very successful. Even record companies, such as Sony BMG, EMI and Warners, have used our services to promote their records at a third of what it would of cost them.
Can you help me get my music to the right record company?
If we feel your demo or finished master is of good quality we will advise you in how to go about getting your music to the right record company for your ‘sound’ or style.
I can’t write my own songs, does this matter?
No, you could choose to do a cover version, or we have songwriters that can accommodate you please contacts us for more information.
I have wasted thousands of pounds, in the past, recording songs and got nowhere. How are you different from other studios and producers I have worked with in the past?
Our services are tailored for each individual. We will tell you from the start, what chance we think you have, and, we deal with all aspects of the recording industry under one roof.
I just want to be famous, and I would do what ever it takes, is this enough?
If you are in this just for fame and ‘flashing lights’, then you may be in the wrong game! The most important thing is that long before fame comes a lot of hard work. Just wanting it is not enough, you have to be prepared to work hard and already have natural talent.
How do I pay for your services and when do I pay?
You can pay via pay-pal, cheque, credit card, debit card or cash. Once we have both agreed on the level of services we are supplying, full payment must be made at the beginning of the project, and we will supply you with a receipt. Any extra costs that you have accrued which have been agreed with us in advance will be billed to you, with an itemised breakdown, to be paid on completion.
I am under 18, can I still record or pay for your services?
No, I am afraid not, we need to have the written permission from your parent(s) or guardian(s) to take things further. (s) or guardian(s) to take things further.
What happens if I am late for my studio time?
We are flexible, as some things can’t be helped, but without advance notification or a sufficient excuse, you could be billed for the extra time or we could cancel your recording.
How much notice do you need if I need to cancel my studio session?
We require a minimum cancellation notification of 48 hours.
What happens if any of my belongings are stolen from your premises?
You are solely responsible for your own belongings and we do not take responsibility, or liability, for loss or damages of any nature. We advise that you refrain from bringing expensive video cameras or laptops… a notepad and pen should be enough.
I have a manager, will you deal with him?
It is essential that you inform us whether you have appointed a manager (regardless of whether or not you have signed a management contract with him or her)
You must also inform us of any other contracts that you have signed – such as production /recording /publishing contracts.
After my record is made, is there a guarantee I will get a record contract?
No, there is no guarantee; the A&R at the subsequent record companies will have to like your music before initiating a record contract. We are one of the best in the business of making records and creating a ‘buzz’ for your music. We have over 10 years good working relationships with major and independent record companies, and in that time have signed over 300 deals.
What genres of music do you work with?
Mainly Pop, RnB/Urban, Dance, House, UK garage bassline, house, and Indie.
I am just a songwriter can you help me?
Yes, we can put you together with artists / bands / groups to write for or with.
I need a session musician, do you have any?
Yes we do. We have musicians that have worked with the artists including George Michael, Craig David, and various radio & TV shows, all the way through to musicians that have worked with underground urban acts.
I am record producer can you help me?
Yes, we have over 20 years experience in this field.
My song/songs has been played to a record company and they want to sign me up, what is my next step?
At this point you should be a happy artist!
There are several types of recording contract that you may be offered.
We have over ten years experience of negotiating record deals At this point you will need a specialist music industry lawyer and we can assist you with this.
The record company has turned me down, what do I do next?
It’s not the end. There are many different avenues you can take to promote and release your songs and still be as successful as if you had a record contract we can help and advise you here.
For example, artists such as, Corrine Bailey Ray, James Blunt, Craig David and Daniel Bedingfield had problems securing deals with major labels, with the labels eventually coming back to them!
