Living in Paradise

About Me

The Winter Woman
The Winter woman is the woman of the world with un-excelled taste. She has a natural poise and gives the appearance of self-confidence. She is satisfied working alone. There is a quietness, simplicity and calmness about her. Usually she has a formal, dignified, reserved manner (sometimes seemingly haughty). She may seem aloof, with the inner sparkle related to icicles. She is compassionate and has a calming effect on other women. She is hard to get to know but makes a loyal friend. She can be mysterious, or rather appears to be so, because she is quiet and sometimes needs more self-confidence. She sometimes has an inferiority complex. She seems to have complete control of herself at all times. She is snow and ice on the outside and fire smoldering within. Her emotions run deep. She loves deeply, but has trouble expressing herself or giving spontaneous affection. She shows her love through acts of kindness. She is sensitive, and worries about what others think of her. She analyzes people and situations and is often pessimistic. A Winter is a perfectionist and is often disappointed in reality.
Year of the Dog
People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other people¡¦s confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit.
Biography:After a wonderful childhood in rural Southern Germany, I set out to explore the world. Or maybe the world had finally found me in my hiding place and decided to drag me out. I had just graduated from private school with a 2-year degree in foreign correspondence, moved into my own apartment and found my first job. Only a few months later, on a rainy October weekend, I was roaming the internet not looking for anything in particular. Little did I know that my life was about to change...I met an American in a chat room, then met him again, exchanged email addresses, began to send pictures, the messages got longer and longer and soon we were talking online literally every free minute of the day and night. We both realized we had fallen in love head over heels. The winters in Germany are long and dark and cold, so when my new-found soulmate invited me to visit him in sunny Florida, the offer was more than welcome. Not that my family was too thrilled about it, but at that point nothing could hold me back. And besides, he had already booked me a flight. The moment we hugged at the airport I felt like this was not our first meeting, but rather a reunion of long-lost friends. All my doubts and fears melted away, and I discovered that the impression I had gotten of him through our online conversations proved to be true and that he had been extremely honest all along. To make a short story even shorter, I quit my job, gave up my apartment and we got married in March of 2002, after knowing each other for less than five months. It may seem like a drastic step, but I have never regretted it. A long-distance relationship was simply out of the question for us.Despite being with my beloved husband, I must admit the first year or two in the US was a very rough time for me as I was plagued by homesickness and depression. Florida is a beautiful place, but a huge adjustment was required of me in this new world. To make things worse, the immigration paperwork was giving us plenty of headaches. Slowly and painfully as it was, I gradually managed to adapt. My family began visiting us and fell in love with the place at first sight. Things got a lot better when I got my work permit and was finally able to find something to do.In 2004 a dream came true for me when I landed a job as a translator for German and English. I now work in downtown Miami and am really starting to feel at home here. I'm still very much in love with my husband, and after going through last year's busy hurricane season I'm well on my way to become a real Floridian and live happily ever after.

Wisdom to live by:1. Be Impeccable With Your Word:
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.2. Don’t Take Anything Personally:
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.3. Don’t Make Assumptions:
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.4. Always Do Your Best:
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.
