About Me

Martian Memo to God started out in 2004 with Kelly McShane and Joe Bangah, who shared a love of pop melodies and punk/new wave rhythms. Drawing on influences that include The Smiths, Weezer, Nada Surf, The Strokes, and The Ramones, Kelly and Joe began to write and perform songs that would be the basis of Martian Memo To God's sound. The addition of Mike Waller, Paul Bangah, and former drummer Adam Grant, rounded out the musical base for Kelly's dark baritone voice and gripping lyrics.

Through 2005 and 2006, MMTG have been performing at premier Seattle venues (Neumos/Chop Suey/Crocodile) in support of their debut album So Go The Dreams Of The Rough And Tumble, released in March of 2006. The mix of high energy pop and stripped down numbers will showcase the dynamic range of Martian Memo To God's sound.

Sounds Like: "Atmospheric, moody, and melodic, few Northwest artists since the Dandy Warhols have paid such worthy homage to the Britpop movement" Three Imaginary Girls, KEXP blog

"Rough and Tumble is damn fine fun, full of catchy hooks, simple melodies, and a bratty but essentially harmless attitude, all buffed to an impeccable sheeen and ready to please eager ears." KATIE SAURO, Seattle Sound Magazine

"Martian Memo to God fold moody, post-punk atmospherics into otherwise supercharged rock 'n' roll" - JENNIFER MAERZ, The Stranger

"Deserving of their own hype is local act Martian Memo to God, whose Psychedelic Fursish groove gets better all the time." Seattle Weekly

"Martian Memo to God are one of Seattle's best emerging bands. Mixing punk energy with new wave sonics and extremely solid songwriting, their debut, self-released CD ends up sounding like a modern day Psychedic Furs with less cheese." MATT ASHWORTH, Nadamucho.com

"It's like a return to 1986 with a few twists from 2006. Part pop, part new wave, and part punk, this is a good album." Disheveled Magazine

"They have a great fast-paced garage sound mixed with a bit of psychedlic Martian rock and their use of keyboards works great. When singer Kelly McShane raises his voice, the venom that sneaks in is aces." DAN HALLIGAN, The Tablet
Type of Label: Indie
