Whats in a name? Theatre company present Jack The RipperOn the 17th July 1889 Alice Mackenzie was brutally murdered in the Whitechapel area of London, she is suspected to have been the notoriously named “Jack the Ripper’s” fifteenth victim. Why was she so important? Well, Alice Mackenzie was raised here, in Peterborough, and it wasn’t until some time before 1874 that she moved to the East End of London. On the year of it’s 120th Anniversary the dark events of 19th Century London are brought back to life in a grizzly music hall style performance at the key theatre. What’s in a Name? Theatre Company are a group of eleven individually individual individuals. Since September 2006 the group have grown to become beautifully “Un-PC” people with a passion for performing. Now graduating their BTEC National Diploma in Acting and musical theatre courses at Peterborough Regional College, this company is here with a thrilling finale on the 5th and 6th of June at the Key Theatre. With credits including The Wizard of Oz, Equus, Teechers, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Snowbe and the Reject Squad, A Fairly Bitchy Christmas and Oliver! they now present Jack the Ripper!; with writing and music by Ron Pember and Denis de Marne. The Murders of “Jack the Ripper” are still one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the last two centuries- meaning the killer was never found, and is still an on-going case. Is it just fate that this year happened to be the anniversary of the murders? Is it coincidence that Peterborough has a strong connection with one of the victims? Who knows? However, one thing is for certain; the cast of Jack the Ripper will have you smiling from ear to ear! .. -- Copied from MySpace.com -- Find me on MySpace and be my friend!
