About Me

We thought we give you a quick tutorial to the process of how Rootclip works in case you were wondering.
It all begins with the video that we create to start a story. We call that video the "Rootclip". Clever, huh? Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to watch the Rootclip, then shoot a 60 second video for what you think should happen next. I know, I know, you're not going to have the same actors. Don't worry about it! That's why we've indicated the costumes of the main characters in the Rootclip. If you want to take the story in the direction of Scott Michaels leaving with the case, then make sure that you've got a similar outfit so that everybody watching your video will know who you're supposed to be. If you want to add a new character, go ahead and do it. The possibilities are endless so get creative and just have fun with it!
Once you've created your story, come back to Rootclip.com and upload your video. We'll do all of our behind-the-scenes magic (pay no attention to the dorks behind the Interwebs), and make your video viewable to the world. Submission periods last for 10 days. Once the submission period is over, you've got 4 days to convince the world that your video is the best during the voting period. Send Emails, Twitter messages, or even post it to your blog. During the beta test, we had a user create a Facebook group telling everyone to vote for his video. They actually ended up winning because of it!
When the voting period comes to a close, we have to contact the winner to verify that they are of legal age to accept the prize [see official rules](http://rootclip.com/about/legal/ "legal jargon"). Upon verification, we will announce the winner and the process starts all over again, except for this time you're continuing from where the winning video left off.
This process continues for 5 more rounds, with chapter 6 being the final chapter. Contest winners for chapter's 2-5 each receive a $500 VISA gift card and become eligible to compete for the grand prize in creating chapter 6 (the final chapter) of the Rootclip story. Oh, and the best part, the winner of the final chapter will receive an all-expense paid trip to the Traverse City Film Festival where they will get to rub elbows with other filmmakers, see the debut of the completed Rootclip film on the big screen and meet award-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore in person. Woot! Team Rootclip will also be hanging out with you at the film fest, but I'm sure the notoriety of Michael Moore greatly overshadows ours.
Check out the never before seen completed Rootclip film from out beta test entitled *Identity Theft*, below. We created the first chapter, then users all submitted to advance the story and what you see in this short film are all of the winning videos in order from chapter 1 through chapter 6. Enjoy!
