i'm flawed if i'm not free

About Me

go to my crafty blog and look at the crap i make!: http://pixycraftypants.livejournal.com/
i update all the time.
I've moved this to the top because it's the one thing i update consistently
This new "playlist" thing is weird. anyhoo - new/old song: Burgundy Red - Tim Easton. i've had this song up before but i love it so that i want it up again. this is tim's blustery bluesy side that i don't think get reflected nearly enough. i love this tiny lumberjack of a man. a lot.
new video - again, too good to pass up... this guy i found out about at SXSW from emily (the raddest chick and she's going to have me on her radio show!) and not only is he hot and hilarious - he's german!! yay! so, without further ado, i introduce Flula.
now, we're onto reading Half-Asleep in Frog Pajamas (i'm needing the hope wrapped in smart, silly cynicism right now) - this isn't anything "life-affirming" per se, but it's hilarious and true if you get the right mix of people:
"Are you old enough to remember the Beatles? Remember John Lennon and Paul McCartney? When they sang, they'd put their faces together at the microphone in such a way that they'd blend into just one face. It was the most beautiful face I've ever seen. Now, it's the same when a man and a woman put their odors together, don't you think? They blend into the single best odor in the world."
it's because of statements like the following that i will forever treasure Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins:
"Our individuality is all, all that we have. There are those that barter it for security, those who repress it for what they believe is the betterment of the whole society, but blessed in the twinkle of the morning star is the one who nurtures it and rides it, in grace and love and wit, from peculiar station to peculiar station along life's bittersweet route."
another gem (you need to read it as being said in an Irish brogue by a fella with one eye named Wiggs Dannyboy):
"Reality is subjective and there's an unenlightened tendency in this culture to regard something as 'important' only if 'tis sober and severe. Sure, and still, you're right about your Cheerful Dumb, only they're not so much happy as lobotomized. But your Gloomy Smart are just as ridiculous. When you're unhappy, you get to pay a lot of attention to yourself. And you get to take yourself oh so very seriously. Your truly happy people, which is to say, your people who truly like themselves, they don't think about themselves very much. Your unhappy person resents it when you try and cheer him up, because that means he has to stop dwellin' on himself and start payin' attention to the universe. Unhappiness is the ultimate form o' self-indulgence."
dang. tom robbins writes pretty, meaningful wordlets.
THIS IS THE ONLY "POLITICAL" THING I'LL EVER PUT ON MY PAGE:
hilarious because it's true (the fixing part anyway):
Diebold Accidentally Leaks Results Of 2008 Election Early
..
i'm a part-time fucktard.
billy and jud seem to think i have a "hard life" fixation. i actually have a "hard everything" fixation.
i don't settle, which is a good thing and a bad thing on several levels.
i also love the Continental Gallery. that place rocks my nonexistent cock and it's free!!
so, to replace the christian bale that was ripped from my life, i have finally found this picture (online at least) that i saw one time in a book and it's haunted me ever since. i NEED a print of this caricature like i need water. i know everything about it except where to find a print. so, let me present to you: ernest hemingway caricature by miguel covarrubias. it's radness personified.

i know it's not that big, but yes, that's a bottle of spermicide that he's rubbing on his chest. i would give my left arm for the original.
my new favorite fictional man:

i need someone to find my little man on the boat!
My FOREVER music boyfriend:

(that's Ryan Adams to those not in the know) photo credit - someone at the Dallas show
you're the mutha-flippin'
this is possibly the most brilliant thing i've seen in a long time. it may rival the video below it, but i'm not entirely sure. can you guess who the voice of the lady is? message me if you want to know.
The video below is staying up here forever. It's that good.
Don't say you don't love how unapolgetic it is!!

My Interests

Crafting (all kinds. i'm on a knitting kick now), reading (lots), going to concerts and supporting good musicians (whether they're successful or not, depending on their view, doesn't matter), whiskey, making out, swimming, being near and in water in general. Oh! hot yoga (aka Bikram) because I'm crazy and... I'm sure there's more, but I just can't think of it now. And, my favorite radio station is KEXP. I can't believe I found a radio station in the state of mass media these days that kicks so much ass. You should take a listen at www.kexp.org

I'd like to meet:

Tom Robbins, Christopher Moore, Stephen Fry, David Foster Wallace, etc. You know, smart, funny writers. I like their brains. Edited to add: Ed Harcourt, Hugh Laurie and Josh Ritter.
I'd also like to meet ryan adams, but not for his sperm, but to talk about comic books, celtic frost and watch spaceballs. i'll leave the sperm gettin' to tori.

I now have my legion of 300. I'm not going to add anyone else unless there is someone to delete (i have a couple of spares) so you random bands that i haven't seen live...? Don't even try.
I love the people below. No two ways about it. They're all rad in thier own way. You should love them too. Especially Lou. He's one pimpin' crunk-master, g.

Well, I've finished "The Master and Margarita". EVERYONE should read this! I LOVELOVELOVE it. In keeping with the Russian author's theme, I'm now onto "The Brothers Karamazov". This, too is looking to be good too. Maybe not as good as Master, but lovely nonetheless.

Heroes:

How many points are those Rain??
