About Me

One Vo1ce is a quartet of Filipinas representing Vallejo, California. Monica Castillo, Marie Ceralvo, Melissa Ruiz, and Mae Ceralvo are the four members that make up One Vo1ce.
There were originally five members, and they were known as One Voice. The original members were Monica, Marie, Melissa, Aimee, and Lindsay. Before anything was released, Lindsay left the group and was replaced by Marie's younger sister, Mae. During the Summer of 2000, Aimee decided to leave the group to concentrate more on her schooling.
While growing up, each member of One Vo1ce picked up their love of music from the most influential people in their lives. They were friends and sang together in their church choir. At school they also sang during break and irritated their friends. In high school, one of their friends secretly signed them up for a talent show. They only had one night to rehearse their rendition of "Castle On A Cloud" from Les Misérables and they still won the top prize. In 1995 they started to perform at various events, including college showcases and local fairs. The girls had been singing to a friend while practicing for an upcoming performance, and the friend said, "When you all sing together, you sound like one voice!" The girls thought about that quote and decided to name themselves "One Voice." Once while performing at UC Davis, Kurtis Kato, president and founder of Kamikaze Records, discovered their voices and offered them a record deal. A lot of people offered their phone numbers and business cards, but Mr. Kato was the only one that kept in touch with them and he eventually signed them onto Kamikaze Records. During the Fall of 1998, the group released their first single, "All Day All Nite," which became a Bay Area favorite and top seller. Their first album, Just The Beginning, was released in the Spring of 1999 under the name "One Voice."
On the album there were 12 tracks, including two hit singles that introduced One Voice to the music industry. The album earned One Voice the 66 spot on Billboard's Top R&B and Hip Hop album charts. Unfortunately, a gospel group copyrighted the name “One Voice”, so they had to change their name. They decided to then call themselves “Voice V.” MCA then gave Voice V a record deal, and then released the single "When U Think About Me" nationwide in late 1999. The single earned Voice V a spot in the Top 100 Billboard charts and was also featured on the MTV movie, Jailbait. Another single, "Boyfriend," was featured on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Special and Cribs, both MTV shows. Voice V decided to change their name once more, and had a competition where fans had the opportunity to choose a new name for the group; they finally stuck with the name “One Vo1ce.” In 2000 they re-released their debut album with many remixes of the original songs.
One Vo1ce released another single, "Thru It All," in Spring of 2001. Also in 2001, One Vo1ce released their second album, Sincerely Yours, on June 26. This album had 11 all new songs, including "Thru It All," "Swing Your Love 2 Me," "So Badd," and a remix of "Never Leave Your Side" from the first album. Almost a year later in the Spring of 2002, One Vo1ce signed with Straight Hits Entertainment, Inc., hoping for the best for their group.
Signed with their new label, One Vo1ce released their self-titled EP in Fall of 2003 containing 6 all new and original songs as a pre-cursor to the release of their third album, Luvin' You. Featured on the EP were the singles "No More" and "What Does It Take," as well as a bonus track from labelmates Innerlude and exclusive snippets of songs from the upcoming album. Luvin' You was finally released in January 2004 with 16 original songs, including all 6 EP tracks, 2 of them remixed. The album also included the hit single "Poison." With their new R&B sound, the much anticipated album was a huge step into making it into mainstream radio.
When One Vo1ce started out, they were singing as a hobby. Now their voices are becoming recognized all across America. Their songs have reached the Billboard Charts, and their popularity is continuing to grow. Just think of what will happen to One Vo1ce in the future!Flash Code
