About Me

October holds the best celebrations of the entire year! Our friend Lissa's Birthday, My son's girlfriend Whitney's Birthday, My Dad's Birthday, My Birthday, Mark Murphy's Birthday, My Anniversary and HALLOWEEN!
OK ..... Here it is ..... just what you have been looking for ..... a picture of me. hmmmm...I've gotten chubby. Giggle if you must.
Oh you wanted to see all of me? .... fine.

Ok, here I am for real.
Born in Paynesville, MN in October of 1971. I am Mdewakanton Dakota on my mother's side and German on my fathers.
We Moved onto the rez (indian reservation) around the age of 2 or 3. Got to grow up next to my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, etc. Turned 18 and moved off the rez, had my first son @ the end of 18, married @ 19, moved back to the rez, had two more sons before my divorce in 1996. I remarried in 1998 to my best friend whom I met at the end of my first marriage, had my beautiful daughter in 1999 and have been living life happily ever after!
I'm part of the lost generation. All that I know about Dakota people I have learned myself or from elders I have had the pleasure to speak with. Anything I coud have learned from my family died with my Grandparents. Before my grandmother took her journey a few years ago I was fortunate enough to be named after my grandfather. His name was Wambdi Hoksidan (Eagle Boy), I am Wambdi Win (Eagle Woman). WillowChild is a name that came to me a while before I received my Dakota name. Last year I had the honor of receiving another Dakota name, "Honors Her Family Woman". I have to search for it in Dakota. The paper is around here somewhere. This name was given to me by a wonderful family. The Family of Danny and Patsey Seaboy. This is the name I will now carry until the end of my path.
I've been told that I am a free spirit, a very mellow sort of girl, but I've ended up being grounded to home since my children were born. Growing up we weren't really expected to speak unless spoken to. Which is probably why I've always been so quiet I guess. Never really got out of it. I don't open up to too many people right away. Just a chosen few I guess. People who just meet me tend to think I'm stuck up because I don't talk much. I don't mean to look that way. Maybe it's just that some people are uncomfortable around me. I'm not stuck up, I'm shy. Most of the time I'm like an owl, I sit and watch and wait. Sometimes I don't know what I'm waiting for, but I still wait.

My Interests

**Roses competing in a Junior Fancy Shawl Special, Mankato September 2007.**

I spend the summer taking my kids around from MN powwow to MN powwow. Nothing could ever beat going to a powwow or as we like to call it Wacipi (Wah-chi-pi); roughly translated it means "they dance".

**Roses and Casandra in Prairie Island July 2007.**

We also have a great time going to music festivals. Sometimes the whole family goes.

I love sewing (especially new dance outfits for my kids), I love art, camping, museums, I spend lots of time collecting Dragons, Wizards and Faeries.

I dunno..... I'm interested in all kinds of stuff. Those are the top of my list. I also enjoy playing World Of Warcraft with my family and friends.

I'd like to meet:

I'm all ready married to the man of my Dreams. Mmm! Mmm! Mmm! and dreamy is he! So that's taken care of. Sorry guys.

People of the past that I would have liked to of met ... all the great cheifs and warriors who fought for our peoples rights and all of my ancestors.

The people I'd like to meet now ... all the beautiful people in the world. I don't mean all the good looking 'just give me a salad' kind of people. I want to meet the people who have that beauty 'way deep down inside their soul' kind of people. The people who can smile at you and you get that feeling that everything is going to be ok. I can't stand fake people and I wish they knew that you can tell they are fake. Some people just don't know. You know those people ... with their fake smiles and their fake laughs. OH ... it's so irritating! I've found out that the true 'beautiful' people are the ones you can trust the most. They have no other motive, but to be happy in this world. The one's who try to make others happy. SO ... are you beautiful? Am I? How do we really know if we're beautiful? I think it's one of those things you can tell about someone after you've been around them a bit. I'd like to think I am. I try not to be selfish and I try to think good thoughts about people. I want to meet those people who can talk to you about anything ... and still ... be comfortable with saying nothing. So far it's worked out well. All though I have had some major let downs by people I thought I could trust. BUT ... Just look at the people on my friends list. These are some of the most beautiful people I have had the pleasure to meet. Some I haven't, but I know of some beautiful things they do or have done. A few may be a little goofy, but their still beautiful people. Who would you like to meet?
