Woolton Picture House, the oldest working cinema on Merseyside
is hosting a Laurel and Hardy film show in aid of the Laurel and Hardy
Statue Appeal for Ulverston.
The Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society, the Sons of the Desert, are raising funds to erect a statue of Laurel and Hardy in Ulverston, Cumbria.
Ulverston is the birth place of Stan Laurel and is a popular tourist attraction.
Sculptor Graham Ibbeson [who also created the statue of Eric Morecambe, Cary Grant and many other famous people] has produced a wonderful bronze statue of Laurel and Hardy which is to be unveiled in the centre of Ulverston in April 2009.
To date Laurel and Hardy fans have raised £49,993.15p towards the target of £58,500. By buying a ticket, and going to the film show you will make a valuable contribution to the Laurel and Hardy statue fund and have a lot of laughs too!.
