Well, I moved to Shanghai about a year and a half ago to be the bar manager for the first ever Hooters in China. Yes, Hooters. Yes.... me, Amy Smith, at Hooters. I know, it makes absolutely no sense. Which is why I no longer work there. Well that and a couple of other reasons. For starters, everyone was right. Chinese girls do not even have Hooters, and I, being the honest and upright business woman that I am, had some serious guilt issues supporting a product that did not live up to it's name. Secondly, I found out that I have a terribly adverse reaction to the color orange. There was no way to know this prior to signing on, as I had never been that completely submerged in the color orange at any other point in my life. Live and learn. Thirdly, the food sucks..... there, I said it. It really sucks. Here and in the States. Any of you guys who say that you go to Hooters for the food are full of shit. So, I left Hooters, but not Shanghai... and now I manage an American restaurant in the suburbs. It's almost like being back in Valencia, except now I take a taxi to work (probably a good thing knowing my driving skills) and I have a maid (even better considering my cleaning skills).
