Hailing from Essex, England the five guys who are JUNK came together in early 2002 blending their various influences from the Foo Fighters and Everclear to Redd Kross, Green day and Cheap Trick.
Having been good mates since grade school and playing in different bands in Chelmsford and Colchester since their early teens, it was just a matter of time before they came together as JUNK. Within weeks of recording their initial set of demos, a representative from BMI in London heard their cut "Green Hair" and sponsored a showcase trip to New York where they were
quickly snapped up by Spirit Music Publishing (Lou Reed, Brian Wilson, Tricky).
Spirit Executives were so captivated by JUNK's songcraft and live show that they immediately flew them out to Los Angeles to play for top record producers. What was
meant to be a one week run turned into a three month stay as the legendary
producer, Ed Stasium (The Ramones, Talking Heads, Joan Jett) jumped at the chance to work with the guys.
Within months their music was featured in the soundtracks of dozens of movies and television programs such as Sony's "Anger
Management", NBC's " Providence "
and MTV's "Clone High, USA ."
The ABC Network used a tune to promote their entire winter 2004 line-up, Fox's
" Tru Calling" featured several tracks and
even the Olsen Twins have had their fill.
Though the band is currently on a creative holiday, their material is quickly getting attention, being featured in the "Employee of the Month" starring Christina Applegate and Matt Dillon, episodes of "Laguna Beach," and "What I Like About You."Music available on Itunes soon!
