^these are photos I have taken^
I am the Sports Info Photographer for Pasadena's Lancers (part-time) - as part of a student worker program while I go for an Associate in Arts degree with Journalism. Most of the time I am known by my shortened nickname - RichQuin.
During my earlier years I played baseball several years earning a Sportsmanship trophy in my final season. Also I went through a full boy scouts program but did not want to go onto Eagle Scouts. After going through the pain of a late football tryout at CV high I decided I could not commit to playing on the Falcons football team. I went through a few racing schools wanting to be a racecar driver so bad around age 16 but could not get any financial support.
In 2005 I first started taking sports photos with a little Sony cam, when I was upgraded to a Canon 20D as part of the journalism program in 2006 I started getting noticed and helping out the sports info director at PCC and he eventually got me hired part time. Now I own my 8.2 mp Canon 30D with a 2.8 70-200mm lens among other equipment and a laptop. Missing some great moments here and there I have learned my lesson to be ready to capture anything at anywhere and anytime.
Sometime after that I biked the LA Bike Tour after previously training for the LA Marathon with a major leg muscle injury, I returned in 2005 to finish the LA Marathon XX, with honors of being in a Saucony 26 group of inspirational stories.
I've been all over California from San Diego to Sacramento. I have gotten a couple speeding tickets going to games but in my four years of driving have never been in any accidents, I sure have dodged a fare share though. Staying with PCC for their journalism program and my oppurtunities it costs me around $10 everyday to go to PCC and back home, as I first started about 3 years ago when I lived right over in La Crescenta and went to CV 01-02 but made a lot of mistakes and took other options out.
Being part of the college newspaper and having other sources before I was even on it I've had the experience of going to all sorts of pro sports including, AVP Volleyball, MLB, NASCAR, NFL, and Swimming. Many of the AVP stars recognize me the most. Besides some of the main Misty May & Kerri Walsh, Rachel Wacholder etc I've met other olympic gold medalists such as swimmer Michael Phelps.
After spending this past winter in Oklahoma I feel like I have a better tolerance for cold weather as I was out and about in weather down to 15 degrees, even getting ice cream one night during a football game.
In the Spring it looks like I will have around 110 events to sort out going to or not going to with PCC sports.
In 2008 I plan to keep a lot more organized through keeping track of my photos as in 2007 I took over 75,000 through PCC and many pro sports events. Now with a laptop I can go through photos faster and have plenty of hard drives including a portable 500 gig drive.
My photography website as a .com site was financially brought down, now I reopening it at www.RichQuin.net
