MySpace LayoutsThe label known as fierce panda records was born in a pub in the West End of London Town at the start of 1994. Somewhat predictably the pub (The Blue Posts) no longer exists and the site of it is now occupied by a Boots chemist on the corner of Hanway Street and Tottenham Court Road. Rather mystifyingly the label is still going more than a decade later - not bad when one considers the company was set up purely to release the 'Shagging In The Streets' EP and then call it quits. After all, if you intend to release over 200 records you don't call yourself something as bobbins as fierce panda, do you? Still, accidents will happen and so, a multitude of bizarre decisions and unwise career moves later, the panda continues to amble onwards and sideways accompanied by fellow travellers as stout and hearty as Art Brut, My Architects, Agent Blue, The Pistolas, Absent Kid, Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, The Hot Puppies and Make Good Your Escape. For more information on all these bands plus information on panda pals past and future and our demo policy and how to join the electronic newsletter and what makes 'Countryfile' so great please toodle over to www.fiercepanda.co.uk where everything will become horribly clear…
and soon to be released: THE BLACKOUT / WE ARE THE DYNAMITE!
The Blackout are six metallic troubadours from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. They cruised onto the rock community’s radar a year ago with the fearsome statement of intent that was the cunningly titled six-track fierce panda mini-album ‘The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!’ and by the time they started working on ‘We Are The Dynamite!’ they had already shared stages with their fellow newcomer peers of 2006, Gallows and Enter Shikari. 'We Are The Dynamite!' is an enviably tight collection of rock monster melodic meltdowns, blasted by serious metal riffage and bursting at the screams with exuberant hooks. It features nine brand new songs, two reworkings of tracks from ‘The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!’ (namely ‘Murder In The Make-Believe Ballroom’ and ‘It’s High Tide Baby!’) and quite literally eleven potential singles. ‘We Are The Dynamite!’ is explosive stuff indeed and is released on cd and download on the 1st of OctTHE BLACKOUT / BEIJING COCKTAIL
The first single to be taken from their forthcoming album 'We Are The Dynamite!', 'The Beijing Cocktail' is only The Blackout's second ever single, following last year's limited edition CD release 'Hard Slammin''. Happily, as befits a band poised to rocket out of the rock underground 'The Beijing Cocktail' comes armed with a variety of formats and b-sides, including the live favourites 'Wild Nights & Fist Fights' and 'Go Burn City Hall' and a couple of choice cover versions in Limp Bizkit's 'My Generation' (recorded for Kerrang!) and Faith No More's 'The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies'. 'The Beijing Single' will be out on Sept 24th on special limited edition 7" picture disc, cd and maxi cd.YOU SAY PARTY! WE SAY DIE! / LIKE I GIVE A CARE * OPPORTUNITY
You Say Party! We Say Die! are from Vancouver, Canada. In a bold attempt to release the greatest aa-side single of 2007 both 'Like I Give A Care' and 'Opportunity' are taken from the critically lauded 'Lose All Time' album and both tracks are cracking examples of alternopop nuggets with a conscience and a soul. Remember Real Indie? We do. Because You Say Party! We Say Die! are a great big furry indie-punk-dance joy made flesh, being exuberant at the front, cheerily political at the back and rampantly tuneful at several points in between. Launched into the indiepoposphire by frantic shouts of "Shut out the world! Shut it out shut it out!" 'Like I Give A Care' is an anthem for the underdog, a paean to the put upon: "On your own, you're alright..." goes the reassuring chorus, and for a few wee minutes the world is a slightly better place. The You Say Party! We Say Die! bandwagon has been rolling across the northern hemisphere throughout the summer, from Vancouver's V Festival and Toronto's NXNE to Glastonbury, T-In The Park and several European points in between. Not satisfied with that live activity they are packing their passports, ruby red lipsticks and rousingly effective indiedancepop anthems and heading back to good old blighty to hoover up the nation's spare exclamation marks by going on tour with good friends and spiritual peers Los Campesinos! 'Like I Give A Care / Opportunity' will be out on limited double AA-side 7" vinyl and download on Oct 29th

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: fiercepanda.co.uk
Band Members: Mr Bongo and his hysterical websurfing wombats
Influences: fierce panda is influenced by high art on the South Bank, low pressure fronts from the Atlantic and groovy fucker indie labels like Waap! Kitchenware (circa '85), Fire Recordings, Wurlitzer Jukebox, Creation (circa '86), Sarah Records and Rough Trade. Ahoy oi oi. Secret number one: fierce panda is slightly more indie than some people think.
Sounds Like: frequently very much like a flight of stairs falling down a flight of stairs, the noisy tumblings interspersed with rare moments of commercial lucidity as evinced by debut panda singles by Coldplay, Keane and Embrace. Secret number two: fierce panda is a bit more punk rock than some people reckon.
Record Label: Fierce Panda Records
Type of Label: Indie
