About Me

Before I am anything... I am a Mom.
| View | Add Favorite
What do you get when you cross a Native American man and an Irish woman? Me, I guess! I am a bit of a tom-boy. I love getting dirty - but I clean up well, too! I am the type of woman who gets down and dirty without being worried about breaking a nail. I've got an average build - I am not skinny, but I am also not fat, I would say I am thick and fit - curvacious if you will. My beauty is much deeper than just appearance. Best of both worlds - gorgeous inside and out! I have bright green eyes, and a smile that can warm the coldest heart. I think the old saying of 'a lady on the street, but a freak in the bedroom' fits me very, very well. I have quite a few tattoos and piercings. I am a bit more open minded, and a lot more intelligent than most give me credit for!! Take the time to get to know me, and you might just be pleasantly surprised. I cannot help what I am deeply and sincerely attracted to and I would greatly appreciate not being judged for it, either.
This space is my sanctuary.
With that said - here is a bit of an abridged look into my life...
I am the proud mom of 4 of the best boys in the Universe... one being my own, and 3 are my step boys. All are under the age of 8, so we have our hands full when the gangs all home! I am married to a wonderful man. I am slightly out numbered... so many boys!!! I consider myself lucky on so many levels! I have 3 dogs: Guinness (8 year old chocolate lab)... Daisy (2 year old weimaraner)... Ichabod (1 year old Boston Terrier). We also have 2 cats.... I think we're going for a small farm, or something.
I am a Gemologist. I am 2 courses shy of being a GG. I have scored at the top of my class all the way through my courses. I am a bench jeweler... aiming for the title of Master Goldsmith as well as Master Silversmith... I size, repair, and create jewelry. I do lampwork with glass. I have an understanding of the metaphysical properties of stones that blows people away. I do beadwork every once in awhile. If it has anything at all to do with jewelry... I do it. I suppose that means I am excessively attracted to shiny objects.
I am a widow. My late husband was an amazing man, quite the beautiful hippie, I may add; and passed away in May of 2005 after a long battle with cancer. He will always own part of my heart. He will always be part of my life.
I am very into Hermetic philosophy. The Kybalion is my bible! If you have never read it - you should. I am Wiccan, and proud of it. I am not fuzzy-bunny... I am very grounded, and down to earth as far as my spiritual path is concerned.
As above - So below. (Think about that for a bit)
I am all for sporadic documentation of random brain tangents... so I blog. Read it!
I am fiercely proud of my heritage. I am Irish... and hopefully one day I will return to Ireland. I've got the house... I just need Little Man to hit college! I could go on and on about my love for that land.... but I won't.
I have to let out my inner bitch once a day or SHE gets extremely snitty. See? It's fine - I OWN bitch - bitch doesn't own me. *wink, wink*
Some other things about me... My animals (my other children!)... my art in different forms.... I hope you enjoy this one!

I believe that you can bloom where you are planted, and that everything happens for a reason. I find myself to be overly optimistic, whatever the situation may be.
"Suffering becomes beautiful when anyone bears great calamities with cheerfulness, not through insensibility but through greatness of mind." --Aristotle
Human history begins with man's act of disobedience which is at the very same time the beginning of his freedom and development of his reason.
"An exhibitionist is nothing without a voyeur." - S. Sachs
And as far as advice goes... Always make sure the words you leave with someone are kind, and always make sure that the people who you love know how much you love them!
And never, never forget your sense of humor. Speak your mind. Stand for what you believe in. And never settle... Let all obscurity flee from thee.

My Interests

CURRENT MOON moon phases

First - and foremost: I was born with a congenital case of curiosity. Seems to be the reason I am interested in soooo many things:

Gemology, gemstones, crystals, minerals, rocks, jewelry (I do custom pieces, and bench repairs), spirituality, metaphysics, tarot, journaling, astrology, astronomy, numerology, dreams, dream interpretation, synchronicity, coincidence, serendipity, intuition, travel, reading, photography, animals, chocolate labs, weimaraners, maine coons, boston terriers, coffee, hedonism, steam punk, charity, comedy, music, evolution, history, poetry, erotica, erotic poetry, corsets, nerds, freaks, tattoos, piercings, bondage, bdsm, sex, polyamory, art, wine, thunderstorms, meditation, sleeping, books, writing, candles, incense, public speaking, history, camping (and floating), traveling abroad, road trips, rivers, helping others, criminal forensic science, microscopes, Earth, all things shiny, world issues, global politics, and far too many others to list!

I'd like to meet:

Good people... kind people... people who are genuine... people who are open-minded and also open to new possibilities... people who love poking fun at the idiocy of today's society as much as I do. There are so many different kinds of people I would love to meet.

I am new to Quincy, IL - and I am finding it hard to find people I have things in common with!!!

As far as famous people go?
Edwin McCain - he has a voice that captivates me in ways I didn't know were possible.
Steve Wozniak & Stephen Hawking - the two most brilliant men on the face of this planet.
Lewis Black - he makes you laugh, and think at the same time.
Ani DiFranco - she inspires me greatly.

Music:

So many..... Edwin McCain, Ani DiFranco, Pearl Jam, The Cure (mmmm), Neurosonic, Tantric, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Refused, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Victor Wooten, Spooky (I miss you guys), Joss Stone, White Zombie, Metallica, 80's hair bands (hahaha), Sublime, some country, some rap and hip hop, Marc Broussard, Blue October, October Project, Los Lonely Boys (miss you guys, too), Tori Amos, String Cheese Incident, Damien Rice (Thank you, Daniel), MOE, Willie Nelson, Nickel Creek, Bob Marley, Allison Krauss, Beastie Boys, Hosty Trio, Steve Miller Band, Cypress Hill, Eminem, Morcheeba (Trigger Hippie, baby!), Phunk Junkeez, Tenacious D, Snoop Dogg...

Movies:

Anything with intelligent humor. Anything that makes you use your brain. Anything which brings about honest emotion. There are so many that I love... I cannot begin to list them all. I am always up for a good movie!

Television:

Don't watch as much as I should, but I tend to love Forensic Files, and all of the other nerdy scientific shows I can find! The History, Discovery, and National Geographic channels are a must in my home! I would rather be outside... but those work if I am in the mood for the boob tube.

Books:

'The Kybalion' ... Hermetic philosophy - it is my Bible. by Three Initiates
'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins
'The Secret Life of Bees' by Sue Monk Kidd
'Mutant Message' by Marlo Morgan
'The Rice Mother' by Rani Manicka
And far, far too many others to list....

Heroes:

My late husband, Jon.
He has to be the bravest person I have ever known. He never stopped fighting the cancer.
I will always love him.
He was the honey... and I was his bee.
"Fare you well, my honey, Fare you well, my only true one. Fare you well, fare you well. I love you more than words can tell."
As far as famous people?
To name a few:
Edwin McCain.
"And the first thing that I think of are her sympathetic eyes - that see with only positive emotion.
And she talks of being grumpy, but I know that grumpy's not her style.
And I soak up all her beauty 'cause I'm only here awhile."
-'Through the Floor'
Steve Wozniak.
"Creative things have to sell to get acknowledged as such."
Stephen Hawking.
"My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all."
Mae West.
"I wrote the story myself. It's all about a girl who lost her reputation but never missed it."
Helen Keller.
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."
