...tired of myself, tired of this town...

About Me

My name is Joseph Taormina. Twenty-five years ago I was born in Great Falls, Montana. Montana will always be my second home. Ontario, Oregon is my hometown and will always be a part of me and a part of what made me who I am and who I will grow to be. I’ve got an amazing, loving family and feel blessed to be able to say this. I am extremely fortunate to have the love and support that is given to me by them. The same can be said of my friends.
I enjoy a great number of things, most of which are in some way a part of the world of art. I draw, I act, I write, I play a bit of music; I love to create. Of all of these things, my biggest passion is film. Working in the film industry is what I plan on doing with my life. I want nothing to do with being famous, having a lot of money, or anything else that is associated with the whole Hollywood scene. I want to make films that will touch, move, inspire, and entertain people as much as some of the greatest films have done so for me. I can think of nothing more satisfying and rewarding than being a part of something that touches millions of people, in millions of ways, throughout the world.
Here it is, the trailer for the film, 'Feast of Love.' I did some extra work on this film set up in Portland during the fall of last year. If you look close, I'm in the trailer too! My head's cut off and I'm a bit blury (as to be expected being an extra in the background), but I'm there behind Morgan Freeman nonetheless! When Morgan Freeman says, "I think I'd proceed with caution" that's me right behind him. I've got a pretty funny story about that scene too if anyone ever wants to hear it! Also in the trailer there are a few shots of a wedding in the movie. I did some work in those scenes too and will more than likely appear on screen during them as well. Anyways, the film is in theaters on the 28th. It really doesn't look too bad? - I've since seen it. It's a piece of shit...

My Interests

Film. Music. Art. Rollerblading. Acting. Writing. Rock Climbing. Skiing. Fishing. Camping. Rogue Beer. A nicely broken in pair of 501s.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone in love with life. Movers. Shakers. Friends. Lovers. Sisters. Brothers. Anyone who wants to meet me. The pioneers of rollerblading. Anyone who doesn't want to meet me. Everyone who rollerblades for the love of it. Michaelangelo. Leonardo da Vinci. Tom Hanks. Sean Penn. Steven Spielberg. Martin Scorcese. Johnny Depp. Clint Eastwood. Jack Nicholson. Marlon Brando. Willie Nelson. Tom Petty. Ben Harper. Bob Dylan. The Beatles. Johnny Cash. Hunter S. Thompson. Che Guevara. Keith Richards. etc. Chris Sharma.

To all of those who roll, I salute you.

Music:

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Willie Nelson. Ryan Adams. Bob Dylan. The Beatles. Ben Harper. The Rolling Stones. Reckless Kelly. Whiskeytown. Bruce Springsteen. Sparta. TV on the Radio. Beck. Buck 65. Anything besides radio rap.

Movies:

Entirely too many to even begin to list. Here's a few off the top of my head anyways, in no particular order.

Television:

The Simpsons. Futurama. Family Guy. King of the Hill. Seinfeld. Arrested Development. Curb Your Enthusiasm. Weeds. The Sopranos. The Wonder Years. Trailer Park Boys.

Books:

The Bible. The Grapes of Wrath. The Tao of Willie: A Guide to the Happiness in Your Heart (Willie Nelson). Chronicals, Vol. 1 (Bob Dylan). Cash (Johnny Cash). Anything written by Kinky Friedman. East of Eden. Conversations with Tom Petty (Tom Petty & Paul Zollo). The Facts of Life and Other Dirty Jokes (Willie Nelson). Scorcese on Scorcese (Martin Scorcese) Anything written by Hunter S. Thompson.

Heroes:

So this is the place where I list my heroes. However, since most of my heroes (with exception to my family, friends, and other loved ones) are listed in the 'Who I'd Like to Meet' section, I am going to use this space for some quotes. Memorable quotes are not always, but often spoken or written by individuals who are heroic in their own way. It seems fitting.
"Fuck it Dude, let's go bowling."
-Walter Sobchak
"Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly."

"Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality."

"The thing that most people don't realize is that it's warmer to have long hair; everybody wants to be warm. People with short hair freeze easily. Then they try to hide their coldness, and they get jealous of everybody that's warm. Then they become barbers or congressmen. A lot of prison wardens have short hair. Have you ever noticed that Abraham Lincoln's hair was much longer than John Wilkes Booth's?"
-Bob Dylan
"I never wanted to be a movie actor. I started out on the stage. The first time I was invited out here [Los Angeles], I turned it down. Then Michael was born and I needed money, so I came. Sometimes, the thing that ties you down sets you free."
-Kirk Douglas
"No matter what, the name George W. Bush will not be on the ballot this year."
-Barack Obama
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
