Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, home of “The Jackson 5”, on March, 18, 1976. Ms. Mitchell is the daughter of accomplished vocalists and musicians. Her mother was a gospel singer and a self taught pianist, while her father is a trained guitarist and bass player and self taught drummer and percussionist. Her parents filled her childhood home with different styles of music, thus planting the seed for her blossoming love of all genres. Monique can always remember having a fond appreciation of music, particularly singing. She can recall sitting in front of her radio and daydreaming about performing.
Ms. Mitchell’s training and experience with singing started at the ripe age of two when her parents formed a vocal group, “The Mitchell Sunbeams”, with her four sisters. She has performed independently as a featured soloist and member in several school, church and community choirs throughout her childhood and adolescent years. Ms. Mitchell’s current vocal range is second soprano with a three octave range. Her voice is often described as being unique and flexible.
Ms. Mitchell is currently a lead and background vocalist with the Columbus, Ohio based band, South 17th. Ms. Mitchell also is apart of the gospel ensemble, Hill Seven Ministries. Monique is on the market to do session work and is in search of a producer to create music with for a independent c.d. release
