About Me

Try to spend most of my time in a Shaolin temple in NYC. We also have temples in Trinidad (Trainharderdad), Mexico, Austria, and South Africa. Lately the big thing is that I spend a lot of time in Jamdung creating all kinds of different events in Negril, Jamaica. One day there will be a temple there too. About 2 years ago I got fed up with the way things were going down during spring break and decided to change things. Despite a lot of resistance, my project took off and has created positive results in the community. So I do a lot of work during Spring Break in Negril and now outside of that too. We've done a lot of concerts, our thing is different. We present the artist in concert, they have an opportunity to really turn it out for their fans, and when the shows do well we hit it back to the community in the form of support for local schools or community programs like the Negril Football Club. I came up in the L.I. alternative or hardcore scene- I used to go snowboarding every single chance I could get, spent a summer painting in Italy, now I do a lot of traveling and doing all this business in Jamaica I should probably write a book.My mom's Sicilian, and my dad's Irish/Czech. It's volatile.I've been a dj for a looooooooooonnnnnng time, I still spin vinyl and refuse to go to CD or computer. I can't stand when the next dj comes in with serrato and starts plugging and unplugging when it's YOUR set...that's the times I guess. I play a lot of afro-brazilian, portugese, afro cuban house, tons of hip hop, a lot of old skool- 3 best rappers of all time: Biggie, Nas, Rakim- and yeah of course Jay, and tons and tons of reggae which I mostly have on 7s.The event I am most proud of is called the "Soul Rebellion" and it is the event I created to transform spring break- it is a music festival that re-invests resources back into the local economy and public school system in Negril, and at the same time it invests Jamaica and her culture back into the spring break experience. Do not call it charity. When people can make a difference and see that creating benefits for others is creating benefits for themselves, they should endeavour to pursue such actions. Why can't everyone eat. It's that serious. As for DJ stuff, I have played rooms full of thousands out in the Hamptons to more intimate lounges in NYC and all kinds of stuff in-between. Normally as a matter of policy do not give out a demo- any fool with a computer can dump some songs together and burn a CD- it means basically nothing. Better to be able to read a room and build a vibe according to who is there listening and dancing. These days I really like to play lounges and smaller rooms, because you can really lay down an interesting mix of music and touch on a lot of genres. In the last year or so I was playing at spots like the Belmont Lounge, Negril Village, a couple of one off loft parties in Manhattan, a few times at Viscaya, Lot 61 for the Ong Bak movie premiere hosted by RZA, any and all Shaolin Temple parties, and tons of other spots... My Grandpa, a real live hero of WWII and my nonna, a real live hero for her family, and those other ancestors who came before me. A lot of my heroes were things I would make up.
