.. In December of 2007, my mom noticed a strange lump on the top of my right paw. She was very concerned, because my brother Rudy had a strange lump earlier that year. He ended up being diagnosed cancer. My mom immediately called my veterinarian and he recommended that the lump be surgically removed and biopsied. When the results from the biopsy came in, my family and I were very sad. I had a tumor called a hemangiopericytoma. Usually, chemotherapy and radiation are an option for this type of tumor. For me, it wasn't. The cancer was at an advanced stage, and my only hope for survival was to have my leg amputated. In January of 2008, I had my surgery. At this time, I am considered to be free of cancer. I still need to have additional testing to make sure that the cancer hasn't spread to my lungs or other organs. I do get tired very easily if I do a lot of walking. Sometimes I trip, but for the most part I am pretty quick on three legs. My mom even bought me a special ramp to help me get on and off of the bed more easily.
