Activist Dj on the northern French Drum and Bass scene since 1996, mainly present on the dance floors of Benelux, France and Great Britain, Dj Rom1 has made a name for himself within this movement… In 1994, at a time when the break beat / electro is ruling in European clubs, he starts buying records and learns the secrets of the mk2 turntable. He would soon become a recklessly efficient DJ with a particular style and a top techno DJ on the northern French and Belgian scenes. In 1996, in England, he witnesses a musical revolution : the “Drum and Bass†and so he decides to focus on this music that matches his need for new sounds. In 1997, after a two years period besides the greatest Dj’s on the northern European dance floors, he intends to organize event in order to promote Drum and Bass and Breakbeat. This is the cornerstone of many unavoidable parties, such as Brotha’s from differents Motha’s, Unity, Intencity... Party after party, the “Explicit Drum and Bass†events appear to be the place to be on the north of Paris. Before 1996, he played with : Kenny Larkin, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Daft Punk, the Micronauts, Liza n’ Eliaz, Andrea Parker, Christian Vogel ... His contacts within the techno sphere encourage him to release one of his own productions and so he does on the famous Belgian label Reload Records. Promoter and resident Dj of the Unity @ Catacombes parties in 2002 (Be), of the Intencity parties in 2000/01 @ La Cave aux Poètes (Roubaix, France) and monthly within the frame of the Explicit DB parties @ Rockline (Lille, France) between 1998 and 2001, he ends up with monthly events with MC Jamalski in the club “Le Trente†in Lille in 2003/04. The year 2005 is marked by a range of dates in La Cave aux Poètes, where Dj Rom1 plays along with the best international newcomers : Dj Clipz, Dj Pascal, Dj Hazard, Dj Ruffstuff & Mc Krayz B and System D. Rom1 is the resident Dj of the Dour festival in Belgium since 2001. The 2005 edition has been a total success : more than 3000 D&B addicts dancing on one dance floor. DJ Rom1 had invited Dj Hype, Mampi Swift, Future Prophecies, Elisa Do Brasil ... During summer 2005, he was to be seen in the Fancofolies, Astropolis and in Barcelona, beside Shimon in the Plataforma (Spain). In the end of 2005 and in 2006, Rom1 spends most of his time in his home studio, basically focussing on production to release a new maxi in a near future. He continues his work of promoter with the Unity team notament with the realization of the " Unity festival " in the tripostal of Lille as well as residences in clubs of France and Europe.
