Imagine music that is held together by gritty Hip Hop rhythms and percussion, combined with soulful throwback chords and instrumentation, energized by punk rock-esque guitars & adrenaline, and seasoned with Reggae touches... You are imagining what fans are characterizing as a new movement in music--a band called "Marley High." The band was formed in 2005 by established Atlanta producers "J Fresh" of PhiveStarr Productions and "Sol" of Soleternity Productions who produce for:BUBBASPARXXX, THE DUNGEON FAMILY, WITCHDOCTOR, GOODIE MOB, KHUJO, BIGG GIPP, KB(FACE MOB), BACKS ,HOODVILLE, AZ, RAEQWON, KURUPT, BLACKTHOUGHT (THE ROOTS), BONECRUSHER, 8 BALL, ADINA HOWARD ,REHAB, THE OUTLAWZ, BUN B, PAUL WALL, LIL SCRAPPY, YOUNG BUCK, ANGIE STONE, THE YOUNGBLOODZ, BIZARRE, OBIE TRICE, DOGMATIC, LOKO, DJ UNK, OOMP CAMP, LAUREN BRIANT, DUDDY KEN, TRAE,PROOF,OBIE TRICE, COLT FORD, ATTITUDE, AND MANY MORE
JFRESH & SOL not only produced the entire album from scratch, they also played all of the instruments, created all the song concepts and lyrics (plus an appropriate flury of original choruses & bridges from the talented R&B crooner "Don Flamingo"), performed lead vocals on all of the tracks, and engineered & mixed the entire album at both "Sol House Studios" and "Phivestarr Studios."
Work on the debut album "Front Porch Classics" commenced in late August 2005. A year rich in industry networking and production for the two producers signified their readiness for success in the music industry. Thus, the two up & coming minds came together to create "Marley High", and 15 songs were completed in as many days, despite the two never having created a song together. By the time October concluded, the band had compiled over 40 songs, although only a handful would make the album's final cut.
Inspired by the sound of artists like Outkast, No FX, Tupac, and Sublime, the genre-transcending appeal of the group is best exhibited listening to the album's lead single "Drink & Drive."
