Thanks Black Jesus Rock'n Roll will never die!!!
In autumn 2007 five crazy and rock'n roll-hearted guys met in a turkish bar in Tampere and the following evenings they spent much time together and during drinking, smoking and joking they made the great decision, to establish a real Rock'n Roll band!!! It took some discussions until an original band name was found, so first they named themselves "Black Jesus" but after a while they came to the conclusion to put a "z" in the middle of "Jesus", so their name is more singular.
They played their first gig before Christmas 2007 in a bar called "Ottopoika" in Tampere. At this time Mr. Madbone Macceus was still the leader of the band Sister Shotgun, but after they broke up, Macceus is completely concentrating on Black Jezus now, doing the vocals and singing his heart out. Sir Christus, who played the guitar in the Band Negative for long years and the bass at his brother's former band Bloodpit has been graduating as Sir General Christus and plays now the guitar and singing the background vocals with Black Jezus. From February 2008 until middle of April he played aswell with his brother's Matthau Mikojan's Gang but then he left and is only concentrating on Black Jezus now. Raffe El Rafaello plays the guitar aswell and besides that he's in the rockband The Bitterlicks,like Macceus he also played a long time with Sister Shotgun. Eero Mr. Epic Maniac , the youngest guy of them with only 20 years, plays the drums and besides he's a long standing drummer in the band Heijaste.
In the beginning times of Black Jezus Gärff from the Ardè's
Voodoo Nights was their bass-player, but after a short while he left the band and so the guys did their next gig in the Heavy-Metal-Bar "Helevetin portti" in Tampere without him. At their next show in April at the Ottopoika Bar again there was a big surprise for the audience, cause Christus' brother Matthau Mikojan joined the band as bass-player. He seemed to fit damn good into the band and people wanted him to stay, but he said, it was just for fun. But let's wait the future, finnish crazy guys are always surprising!
At the end of April the band introduced their new bass-player Mercedes Santiago at the gig in the Teerenpelibari in Tampere. He calls himself that way, cause he's riding a Mercedes, while the other guys prefer to take the bus or taxi or walk... it's even better after having drinks ;)
On 19th of May Mercedes left the band again but the band said, that they've found a new bass-player already and they soon will tell us, who that crazy guy is!
Because of the fact, that the guys are all great fans of the Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Backyard Babies, Guns'n Roses, etc., they were just doing cover-songs at the beginning, but very soon they fortunately decided to work on their own stuff. At the end of April they began with the recording sessions in the studio and now soon their first
unpatiently and longexpected single will be released and an album will also follow! In July the first real Black Jezus Tour will start all around Tampere and before that they rock in Kangasala at the Ruutanarock on 14th of June! Maybe meanwhile there are more gigs to come before the tour in July!
And so the story will continue and we all will learn about Warschool... :)
