You know, I had one of those music bios here -- I mean they're cool and I've really enjoyed reading mine over and over, but I feel sort of like a liar because I haven't been playing music out at all lately. So until I do start playing out again, I will leave you with these things. (If you are really pissed off that my profile doesn't have a music bio like that's the only reason you came to my page in the first place, go to my website and you can read it there).
-- I really, really, really like falafel. You don't understand how much I like it. Really, you don't.
-- I used to be really good at those games in grade school where there would be a jar of, say, gummi bears, and each student would get to make one guess as to how many of them were in the jar and then whoever was the closest would get all of the gummi bears and was allowed to eat them in class. I was good at them because even when I was seven years old, I was thinking "self, what is the best way to win this?" When I would win, yet again, I would try to explain it to all the kids who were jealous that I was eating the gummi bears they so sorely wanted to win. I would say, "It's not that hard you know. All you have to do is figure out how many gummi bears it takes to create a ring the size of the circumference of the jar. Then you have to figure out through estimation, how many gummi bears it takes to fill in the circle -- basically the total of these two numbers is the number of gummi bears it would take to cover the bottom of the jar. THEN, count roughly how many it takes to get from the bottom of the jar to the top. After that, all it is is simple multiplication.....it's not THAT hard, ok?!" Either they didn't understand me every time because they didn't want to listen to me gloat, or they couldn't make any of it out because I was too busy indignantly jamming gummi bears into my mouth while talking.
-- I did not have many friends in grade school.
-- I think that God is awesome. So incredibly awesome that it makes me feel so happy and blessed and unworthy to be a part of His world. I try to do my best by Him in everything I do.
-- I don't think that televangelists and your Jerry Falwells and your James Dobsons have any idea what they're talking about. I think Jesus would be ashamed of half of what they say while they think they are speaking for Him. The Jesus I know is one of reconciliation and love -- not anger and divisiveness. Jesus turns His back on no one -- so why do these people on Earth continue to pretend that they have any right to choose who gets to be a Christian, and who gets to be saved? We're all calling through the same phone line. Enough.
-- When I was in high school, I cried the morning I found out that Luscious Jackson broke up. I had never seen them before because they always played 21+ venues, and I learned the ultra-tragic news while reading the newspaper before school one day. That was a sad day.
-- I got a real fancy degree in English from Portland State University. I'm looking at it right now. It's really super fancy and I keep it framed above my computer so that every time I type I can remember how much work it was to get that stupid piece of fancy paper with machine-printed signatures on it that says that I am worthy of working in retail.
-- I like beer. And I like whiskey, preferably Jim Beam. I do not like them together, as mixing these sorts of alcohol is a really fucking bad recipe for a night out.
-- My favorite cities in the United States, in no particular order, are: Portland, Boston, New York City.
-- My least favorite cities in the United States, in no particular order, are: San Francisco
-- I take very little for granted. I am super grateful for my life and cannot understand those who are not. I have been wildly lucky in my life, even through bad times, to have been able to see the things I have seen, to have met the people I have met, to have been at the right place at the right time even when I was unaware that it was either the right place or the right time. To have done the things I have done. There is really nothing more I could ask for.
-- I like meeting new people, so if you've made it this far -- say hi!
-- Oh yea, ps....I hope you like the music!
