The autoharp is ultrasexy!

About Me

The good: I'm cynical but hopeful, self actualizes but still delightfully weird, almost nothing embarrasses me, I'm full of useless trivia, I medaled in sarcasm. I love my friends, my fuzzy retarded children (1 cat, 1 dog), my brilliant and adorable hubby, and well, life in general. The bad: the older I get, I find myself becoming more intolerant of certain things... on the top of the list - whining, stupidity, close mindedness, intelligent design and religiosity in general,The ugly: When I drink too much I have a tendency to apologize for all misdeeds no matter how old or irrelevant. Okay, maybe a few things embarrass me.Lately, life has been ridiculously laborious - our "home crap home" has a never ending list of needs. When I’m not wrestling entropy I like to see bands and take road trips.I sure do love those high heel wearin’ county girls - June, and Loretta, and Patsy. I aspire to be as dazzling. I just started playin' the autoharp - it makes me feel extra cute and "ol' timey.

Some might see this as unPC but I am on a mission to perfect all the skills a 1950’s housewife might hold in high regard – cooking with real butter, baking fancy cakes, knitting matching sweaters for me and my little doggie, sewing my own curtains, growing the flawless tigerella tomato, making the perfect Manhattan, and… I can accomplish almost all of these feats while wearing very high heels.
You're Color Bettie, you're bright and modern and you seem to always know what's going on. You're into art and expessing deep feelings...that makes you a little deep yourself.

My Interests

I love love love music, art (good and bad), people watching, npr, pbr, dive bars, all things pink, and a whole bunch of other predictably likeable junk. . .blah blah blah. I'm a bit snobby about photography, food, wine, stinky cheese, whiskey, and shoes. Hmmm. . .what else. . . I will karaoke when necessary. I am a below average bowler. Someday I will own a juke box that plays 45s.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone moderately interesting and preferably hilarious. Retro sensibilities, western shirts, and clunky glasses always a plus.

Music:

Eels, Pixies, Rufus Wainwright, Elvis Costello, White Stripes, Frank Black, Johnny Polonski, Sebadoh, Old 97's, BR549, Sodajerk, Cracker, Wilco, Jayhawks, Dick Dale, High Frequencies, Southern Culture on the Skids, Frantic Flattops, Deke Dickerson, anything alt country or rockabilly or counrtypolitan. Lately I've been knee deep in the classics- Patsy, Woody, Mr. Cash (swoooon) (Young) Elvis, Lefty Frizzell, George Jones, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams, Faron Young, Dottie West, Wanda Jackson, Loretta Lynn, Connie Francis, Brenda Lee. . .gaaassp. . . I could go on and on. ..

Movies:

I look for the same thing in both movies and friends - funny, dry, dialog heavy, self deprecating, and maybe a bit pervy.Top of the list: Kicking and Screaming (Noah Baumbach) Honorable mention: High Art, Happiness (so uncomfortable), all Tim Burton movies, Galaxy Quest, Hedwig (yes I sing), Cry Baby, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Serial Mom, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Daytrippers, Party Girl, A Mighty Wind, Trainspotting, Crash, Sid and Nancy, Breakfast Club (stop judging me), Election, American Psycho (the book was way better), The Shining (an xmas tradition), The Pillow Book (so hot), Swingers, Amelie, Walk the Line

Television:

I made a wish for "This American Life" to be a show and now it is and its not on public tv. I love you anyway Ira. I would watch the "All Puppy Channel" too if I could.
..

Books:

Okay, they aren't really books but I just ordered all the Found Magazines and Post Secret books, they are quite amusing. I've reread most of Brett Easton Ellis' books in the (not so) recent past... ahhh, disturbing and yet comforting. I'm totally obsessed - I've read and continue to read every book that David Sedaris has written and I have all the audio books too.

Heroes:

My tall, delicious, brilliant, cynical, charming, minimally rock-star-esque, bespectacled, technogeek husband Andy. He's handy. What Classic Pin-Up Are You?
