I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm tired of friends with myspace sites constantly updating their sites and then I don't know the link, so I'm making a site so I can just click from here. I'm an introverted, cynical, highly irreverent but essentially optimistic type who likes solitary pursuits or hanging one on one with someone who also likes to analyze and dissect everything and note the absurdities/incongruities/delights of the world around.

My Interests

New insta-addict to MMORPGs, in particular SOA (Shadows of Angmar, due out April 24 for you unlucky non-beta players), Second life, Science fiction, technology, art, history, astronomy, design, social trends, politics (liberal), environment, social responsibility.

I'd like to meet:

People compatible in personality, interests and lifestyle...

Music:

Type O Negative, QOTSA, Korn, Swedish death metal, LOTR soundtracks, various metal sub-genres. Ex-rock musician, so rather intimate knowledge of songs and bands throughout the 80's and 90's.

Movies:

LOTR all time favorites, especially I and II, Fargo, well done science fiction (so rare), MST3K, lately Children of Men, Babel, Pan's Labyrinth. I'm not so much of a movie person but I'm coming around (with some applied pressure).

Television:

Battlestar Galactica, Rome, Survivor, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extras, Trailer Park Boys, Sunday morning news, some crappy reality tv; it's on a lot but I'm not really watching.

Books:

All by Tolkien, all by Martin Amis, lots by Kingsley Amis, most by Brian Moore, Bill Bryson, The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, Childhood's End plus Rama series by Arthur C Clarke, Life of Pi, Dune series, classic sf in general, CS Lewis's Space Trilogy, Athurian legend by several authors, Daphne DuMaurier, Iris Murdoch, Joyce Carol Oates, JG Ballard, Terry Pratchett, Ruth Rendell, Alice Munro, Margaret Atwood (her older ones)

Heroes:

Tolkien, Martin Amis, Bilbo Baggins
